DOGA TO MILKSHAPE PROBLEM

I imported ship into the game, some sides are missing. The missing parts are mostly the ones that were duplicated in DOGA. This causes model in the game look all cut up in to the pieces. Does anybody know how to fix this in milkshape or I will have to make the model again without duplicating.

im using DOGA L3 what version do you have

the duplicated part´s where rotatet or scaled or...

i use doga primarily to make a basic model for usage in other progs nad then make special changes in form and scale

could it be the dxf format doga uses for export is not the best? i often have a problem with this dxf type

May i survive

I use DOGA L3 and I export to dxf first, so that is probably the problem.

I've had the same problem. It seems that when you duplicate a part and reverse its shape (left to right to achieve model symmetry etc.) the faces are changed. If you read the milkshape manual it says that a faces created in a conterclockwise manner will face out and clockwise faces in. So by duplicating the and reversing the part you are changing the way the faces are created.

To make a long story short the model looks weird in milkshape because some of the faces are facing inward and appear black or missing. There are 2 ways you can use to fix this.

1. [Using milkshape Select each face then go to FACE...reverse vertex order. This will make the faces point out instead of in. Can be tedious unless you've setup groups which is unlikely since you imported the model not built it in milkShape.

2 [using metasequoiaLE In the command menu click "select" then in the popup box click "joined face" when you click on the face thats reversed all or most of the faces on that part will be selected. You can then go to "Selected" up top then "invert" and all of the faces are facing out. Repeat for each reversed area. Its important to rotate the model a lot to see the missing faces because in Meta reversed faces are invisible unless to look at them from the right angle.

I use metasequoia to create my parts then DOGA-L3 to put them together. I am just learning about Milkshape. Unfortunately my computer is screwy and crrashes when I use the cmp plugin I'll have my new machine built this weekend so hopefully I can move forward. Oh and I also have Zero clues about texturing I'm currently working on two models; The borderworld banshee from WC:prophesy and the Starviper from shadows of the empire.

Progress is painfully slow.

Funny...Two weeks ago I never even attempted modeling. Then I came across Leonhart's "name my ships" post and was inspired. THANKS LEONHART

I hope this helped in some way.

Hmmmmm before Lancers I never posted in a forum either...... Damn this freelancer!

You are welcome, and thanks for the help. I guess fixing this in milkshape will take forever because most of the right side is missing. But well I will have to do it. Anyway I might just delete duplicated sides (if I remember) in doga and than duplicate them in milkshape. this is something new I found last night.

I have a small problem.
I am using the turorial to make a custom ship, built in Doag L1, expored to the AUTOCAD DXF file type. So far so good, the ship loads up in Milkshape.

Now I'm trying to make hard points but it first wont let me texture and create the so called "2d triangles"

I thought this would be simple and easy....

does any one know how to load new parts into the parts lib.
l found a site where you can down load new parts
but l dont know how to load them to parts lib.
go to doga web site \links
there you will find a parts download page
hope this helps
