Requesting a Wing Man for Hire Mod

I've seen this option availible in similar games, and while I lack the talent my self our only hope is that someone with the skills enough could come up with something that that could work for both single player and multiplayer . Whether they hired ship would just ride you tale like in formation mode (Like having some X-tra gunz) or be more advanced and be capible of independently assisting you, either on missions (Trade or otherwise ) or just all around help in dog fights, Maybe even have a cap on how many hired guns you could buy just for ballancing issues in the name of fairness, perhaps even U must obtain a certain level (Level 20 or higher) in order to be eligble for wingmen... hopfully some like minded peeps will pick up on this and make it a reality.

Actually, I like your idea...
It sounds pretty good. Or just have each successive wingman cost more and more... Like you pay $500,000 to hire one, then you pay another $1m for the next, then another $2m for the next...Then if you have like of money from trading you could become your own little shipping company NPC escorts to help you out. And of course you'd have to pay for upgrades to their ships so they'd actually be useful...

I wanted this too, but wonder if it is in the realm of even the better modders.

I'd like to make it a step further, though. Have the pilot's pay be based on 1. Ship
Type 2. Ship Equipment and 3. Possibly pilot A.I.

If they die, you can tractor their escape pod and they will be available at the next port at a reduced price (for saving them).

if you plan to do this than you might want to do something that will prevent player from shooting down that ship.

First off thank you to every one that responded. I agree that any modder would have there hands full with that project, but its something I thought could only enhance this great game. I liked the Idea of increasing the monitary value for each additional wingman rewarding those who have peeked to the higher of obtainible levels in Multiplayer ( It would give more of a purpose to continue Trading, running missions ect. once a player has maxed out there ship/level in multiplayer.) And being able to tractor in the escape pod of your fallen companion in efforts to repurchase him/her a new ship at a discounted rate is a great idea as well. I only wish I had the time to dedicate to making it a reality. Perhaps a brave modder will look upon these ideas and choose to endevor this project. Thanx again to those who responded.
