Ship "cloning" question.

Ship "cloning" question.

I've cloned a Dagger light fighter by copying it's stats in shiparch.ini, edited some stats, gave it a custom infocard and flew it around a bit... then realized that the shield hardpoint only accepts _heavy_ fighter shields.

I'm obviously new to this. Where exactly does the FL keep the setting for whether a ship is "light" vs "heavy" vs "freighter"?

OK, I've confirmed that ship_class is still 0. As I understand it that's what determines light vs. heavy vs. freighter. Yet my ship forces heavy fighter shields. Suggestions please?

ok this is an edit (i am good at reading the question then answering a completely DIFFERENT one LOL)

i think it is this line in the shiparch.ini :- shield_link = "xxxx" where xxxx is the name of type of shield, it tells freelancer what kind can be mounted defining what kind you can buy

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem. I've gone and cloned the shield_link line exactly as is for the Dagger, and cloned the package in goods.ini exactly as the Dagger. The only changes remaining are infocard and name, so changing these somehow force FL to default to a heavy shield. The same thing happened when I cloned the CSV into a pilotable ship.

Either its your goods loadout or your shiparch shield settings if its the former, simply put a different shield. If its the latter, something like this may help:
hp_fighter_shield_special_3
