Limit Availability

I searched the forums but didn't find any answers to my question:
Does anyone know if there is a way to limit which ships can use which equipment and vice versa? For my Mod i want to make all available shields useable for all ships. On the other hand i want to limit the ships to the engines they can use

If anyone is interested, in st_equip.ini add to the line
hp_type = hp_elite_shield_special_8
hp_fighter_shield_special_8 and hp_freighter_shield_special_8
should work the other way round for the engines, haven't tested it yet

is there a way to limit which ships can use which equipment
change the class of the equipment and weapons and limit the ships hardpoint entries to only be able to mount the class that you want.

For my Mod i want to make all available shields useable for all ships
again class contributes to this accomplishment

On the other hand i want to limit the ships to the engines they can use
I a little confused on this one

If you make Engines buyable, every ship can mount them
I don't want a Freighter beeing able to buy a Light Fighter Engine and fly around with more than twice their normal speed
I think I can do it with renaming their hardpoints, but haven't tried yet, enough other stuf to change

dont all the ships travel at the same speed unless you changed or modified some of the engines
sounds like you plan on opening up a speed shop
I'll still race all challengers just meet me at the bar.

yep, there are different speeds, I mean, there should be a reason to chose a Light Fighter over a VHF

It didn't work the way I tried it:
Adding hp_type = hp_fighter_shield_1 to the engine's line to mount them in the shield Hardpoint. Anyone tried this before and succeded?

Using the same shields did work if i changed the ships shield hardpoint to a fighter's, but it shows Fighter Shield near the shield entry, maybe i create 3 identical shields, unless someone can help me
