Help Create The New Freelancer
After playing Freelancer for hours upon hours upon hours I found myself thinking, 'I want to fly a capital ship' or 'I want to be the leader of my own faction' or 'I want to go harvest gas' or 'What if these NPC's were replaced by human players?'. Clearly I had too many wants to just mod Freelancer, which I tried anyway. But clearly, the Freelancer engine wasn't designed to cope with things such as piloting capital ships or supporting much more over 20 players.
The answer was simple, create my own Freelancer style game. Polaris Online is an open-source web-based massively-multiplayer RPG. It is currently under development and we need PHP / MySQL programmers and Graphic Artists. So if you think you can contribute please dont hesitate to contact me at [email protected]
These are some of the main features:
- Fully customisable universe, administrators can add their own systems, planets, ships, factions etc.
- Administrators can define their own ships and ship types, ie. Capital Ships, Freighters, Transports, Fighters, Gunboats, Research Vessels etc.
- Users can create their own factions
- There will be many ways to earn $$$ such as
- Freelancing
- Mining (mine any number of customisable resources)
- Pirating (ambush transports and steal their cargo)
- Trade
- Employement by Faction/Company
- Lead a faction
- Practically thousands of players can exist in the universe at one time
- Player vs. Player turn based combat
- Everything as customisable as possible
