Is it possible to edit mission 6 to skip it?

Ok well i'm new here and just got freelancer, and got to say it has one of the best single player game i've played in a long time. But now i'm stuf at lvl 6 where you have to do the race and can never finish it, so was wondering if there is a way to maybe edit the files for that mission so that i automaticly win, or maybe remove the cruise engine of the guy your racing?

Well, I don't know. I found that part pretty easy. Theoretically you should be able to go in and remove his engine, by finding out what ship loadout he is using. That may cause problems if he needs to get to certain places to trigger events.

Don't know.

Got me, you're talking about scripts. Somewhere around here is a thread dealing with scripts, but they didn't get it figured out that well. I was thinking you could go into one of the equip screens and change the stats on his ship. But that would likely change yours as well. I think there is only one engine in the default game yes? Maybe you could change his powerplant? I really don't know.

It might be easier just to practice and beat him that way...

Wasn't this debated a while ago... he'll throw the race as you reach the last leg. You're *supposed* to win if you manage to keep on track. First time played, missed the sharp turns on the last parts and veered out. Happens occasionally.

The race is supposed to be very easy, but if you are so desperate but don't want to do something as evil as "sabotaging" his main engine , then you can try modding down the cruise speed in constants.ini and beef up your afterburner in st_equip.ini.

Make sure you're not using a frieghter. I could never win the race with one so I bought the light fighter from the Hovis' base. The increased acceleration and handling made the race a breeze. Try that before you start editing the game (you might accidently kill something crucial to the other parts of the single player world).

Just Fly the race is so easy...

CW was right, modify the Cruise speed. That guy can never reach half point because the original trigger designed for 300 Cruise speed. If you double it, he will never make the turn on the right track.
