Well I don't know much about modding but from just general computer knowledge my guess is you either put in a mod that requires these image files or a mod that deleted (maybe overwrote) them somehow.

Or one of the files is write protected and shouldn't be. So my first guess to fix it would be to go through the files and unwrite protect them (someone back me up on this cause im a little unsure, I dont want this guy messing up his rig on account of me) if that doesn't fix it try reinstalling the game then install your mods one by one.... when you hit the error you've found your problem.

Just though of another possibility maybe you installed a mod that overwrote these files then installed another mod that needs the old ones..... don't know for sure just trying to take educated guesses to help you out.

It took me forever to figure out what was doing this.

For future reference:

It appears to be caused by two things:
1) Adding, or Replacing ships/models.
2) The aforementioned ships have no transparent cockpit windows.

The cure:
(Again, two ways.)
1) Add Transparent Cockpits to your ships.
2) Edit the "Effect_Shapes.ini" file in the "FX" folder.

Note:
My mod has only 1 ship with transparent windows, so I'm not sure what effect this has on them.

To edit:
Change:
[Texture
file = fx\envmapglass.txm
tex_shape = envmapglass

To:
;[Texture
;file = fx\envmapglass.txm
;tex_shape = envmapglass

This disables transparent glass.
(And removes that error.)

Watch your 6!
