FLMM issues and MOD issues in general

ok, so i went out and got the kusari gunship mod and the large train mod, whacked em into FLMM, and found out they conflicted with each other. THis begs me to ask the following questions:

1) firstly how do i edit the two mods so that they dont conflict with each other. both mods have the ships available on manhatten, so will changing the planet you buy them from stop any conflictions? i will edit them myself if someone tells me how, as i have zero knowedge of modding ini files and what-not, so if someone can show me, bear in mind that im an ultimate newbie, so unless you explain it as if were explaining it to child, i wont get it :-p

2) with regards to FLMM, is mod confliction always going to be a problem with modding? becuase if so, i think we need to show people like me with no modding skills whatsoever how to sort out these conflictions....

thanks in advance for any help

No its a not a problem.

Those are small mods people made and posted tutorials for mostly. Others like me are learning from them and using those ideas in our own mods which are much bigger.

The best known large mod is the B5 mod.

The little mods are all stepping stones to something better. Well worth trying individually but at the end of the day they are just small mods and not designed to work togather.

No two mods would work together if they used the same files anyway.

Though their is the chance that a 2 mods that used different files would work togather but thats a long shot. Still, I couldnt have got as far as i have without the train mod and tutorial or other mod tutorials those small mods spawned.

hey giskard, that means a lot from you, cos i know ur a decent modder. I really want to mod for FL, as i love the game (only finished the SP story today tho *g*)
so where do you suggest i start, dont i need an ini decompiler or sumsuch thing, and what are the basics of ini editing?

thanks for the quick reply, btw what is a B5 file?

hey dude,
the "b5" file you mentioned is the babylon five mod (one kick ass piece of work imho )
youd need bini ad a few other tools if you wanted to start modding on your own - check the tutorial section of this site for more details.
