no you can't you can add the lights into good,but if you want to add the lights to the market inis you will fail,because they won't be shown in the shop anywhere!
i know how to change lights but i want to change the lights in the game,you know!
but this is really hard!

For SP you can sort of respray your ship. To be honest i dont know about the original ships but you can definitely do it with your own. Once you have bought a ship you can change the .mat and .cmp files apparently without destabilizing the game. So you can simply edit the model, export to cmp and then redo the .mat. When you reload you will be flying your 'resprayed model'. You can even change number/location of hardpoints and it seems to cope.

For doing this with the original ships you would need more kit. SOmething to convert the .cmp files into some kind of editable format for starters. Although since you can go from milkshape to .cmp i suppose it is possible to go the other way. Similarly the textures are in .dds format. But if you are recompiling the whole model there is a utility you can get for converting them to .tga which you could then use in milkshape. It would be no more hassle than a custom ship once you had done it the first time.
