Icons for engines and more...

Hi

I don't know if anyone had recogized it, but I found some euqipment icons which are very interesting to me, they are location is

"C:\Spiele\Freelancer\DATA\EQUIPMENT\MODELS\COMMODITIES\NN_ICONS\"

equipicon_engine.3db


equipicon_powerplant.3db


equipicon_radarjammer.3db


equipicon_shieldgenerator.3db


equipicon_weaponupgrade.3db

maybe these are no news u, but nobody used them in there mod, I could be worng but I never have seen it.

by the way is there a tool to view/edit these 3db files?

actually that's exactly what i'm trying to figure out. but seemingly noone else cares, how to put all that stuff (back) in the game. so far i've managed to activate the scanner (there are two availabe so far) and the tractor beam (just one working for now) features. thanks to the "ad scanners tutorial"

which program did u use for getting the images of the .3db file contents?

hi bruchpilot,
UTF_edit opens the .3db files and navigate through them till you get to the tga file ( similar structure to .mat files).then all you have to do is export it ;-)

hmmm, cool. All of these should be added into some mod

For the armor: the 1st set will increase your armor 500 pnts, then 750, 1000, and the elite set could be 1500. instead of making it mandator just make ur armor go up

For the engine: You could add another 2 engine hardpoints on the ships and when 1 is purchased ur ship will go slightly faster, like 20% for the first one, then 30 and finally 40. going faster would make it too hard to hit fast targets and could cause other probs.

For the PP: you could make it increase the power for weapons exponentially

for the jammer: make 2 lvls. 1st one makes it so ppl have to get within 1.5k to see you and the second makes it 1k

for the weapon upgrade: make it increase weapon damage little bit per lvl. 1st could be 1.2 times damage, then 1.35 and finally 1.5

i've been using them. the problem is, their background is transparent, not black like the "normal" icons. You can export the .tga file using UTF edit, but i don't have photoshop...

Hehehehe.
Ok. Allowing puchasable engines would be kinda confusing, as engines carry the thrust effect, cruise effect, thrust power, Cruise Charge time, + more.
You would have to make new engine entries for sellable engines. (Just to let you know, this would crash a server if u used it.)

Armor is easy enough. armor_scale# (I think. May be slightly different sintax, too lazy to look it up.)
I havent noticed a difference in scanners's, or tractor beams.

Cloaking, jamming, and radar doesnt work(yet...)!

Send me the TGA files at [email protected] and ill get rid of the transparency if u want. I texture for ut2003 so i have photoshop and im good with transparency
