Nomad jumpgates

Has anyone made a mod that implements the Nomad 'jumpgate' system that the SP artifact activates? It would be a nice feature to be able to zip about the universe. And didn't we activate it in the storyline anyway?

It is activated in the STORY, but in terms of the GAME MECHANICS it doesn't even exist. Don't mix that up.
