FL editing questions.

I opened the files with bini and changed the values i wanted,but how do i save them as .ini so that the game will use it instead of the old one?I couldnt find a compressor program here?

Also what numbers do i need to change for Manhattan to sell eagles,sabres and titans,as well as the "rare" lvl 10 guns?

The game will read the uncompressed ini files. No need to do anything after you make your changes.

Beep wrong.I moved the market_ship.ini file away,and renamed the text-document to ship_market.ini.It remained as a text document of course.Tried to start freelancer and it froze up on me.

Well, DUH. The original filename is market_ships.ini, so your uncompressed .ini needs to have that name too.

How do you extract INI files with bini - sorry for the newby question but i havent made any mods before.

Typo,i renamed them market_ships and it didnt work.Renamed it market_ships.ini and it didnt work.

Are you SURE i dont need to recompress it as a .ini file instead of a text document?

I hate to answer such an obnoxious poster, but have you checked to make sure that your operating system isn't hiding file extensions on you?

I dont understand what you mean by "hiding file extensions".

After i uncompress them,they become text documents.I edit the values i wanted,moved the original .ini files away and tried to run FL.It wont run.

Dear Obnoxious n00b,

Please direct your attention to your explorer window when looking at the contents of your /data folder...

click on tools ( yes thats right at the top of the screen, use that little thingy with the cord on it.. i think its called a mouse)

in the drop down, click on Folder Options...

in the dialog box that appears...
click on the view tab... look in the list, make sure that
Hide Extensions for known File Types, is NOT checked...

click apply...
then click apply to all folders...

now you should be able to change the file suffix of your .ini.txt file to just plain .ini

Hmm you appear to be the one being obnoxious here.....

I did a search on the word ".ini" and didnt find a SINGLE thread explaining how to save the file as .ini.I checked the stickies,and they didnt explain it either.Whos the obnoxious one here?

And why doesnt the values work?I changed the manhattan sell list to allow order guns but it doesnt show up in the list.I also added some shields,mines and missles then the ships suddenly dissapear from the list!I didnt touch the ships at ALL and now manhattan suddenly sells no ships whatsoever!wtf!
