if you made the ship model in milkshape and had to flip it over ( like i did) the the textures in the mat are the wrong way round. (dont ask me why but they were.)
import the *.tga files you used in milkshape into photoshop (or similar) and flip them vertically and then save them in a new location using the same name.
now use the tga's you just saved to make your mat file and keep the originals in case you decide to change anything.
took me days of confusion and a one line post hidden in this forum to work that one out
and if you know anything about the placement of the hardpoints for cargo bay doors please let me know.
