Team/Faction Games: Pulling It All Togeather (modders plz re

there have been a lot of ppl recently who want to make some sort of team play with the factions...perhaps if everyone combines their efforts, this can be accomplished. "we" refers to the lancer community here .

- we know how to set starting factions, bases, and ships.
- we are working on making destructable bases.
- we are working on a "capture the flag" system with downed pilots and escape pods.
- we can create new systems, factions, ships, and guns.
- we can spawn "waves" of fighters and battleships.

now what if we could get this all togeather and make a new type of multiplayer? we dont need to even have a "liberty" system if we dont want it. we could create a whole new map, with systems for each faction, and a couple no-mans-land systems that connect them. (profitable) trading would be done between faction systems and the no-mans-systems, and we could also add some battleships and things that can be purchased in these sytems, so factions might consider guarding these to keep other factions out.

then we set it up so that you start at an indestructable base in the center of the map and (somehow) you can pick what faction you would like to be on...or it might be better to keep it random for even teams. we prob want about 3 teams, and not TOO many systems, because most all servers have under 30 players, so a big galexy would spread out the action too much, and having too many teams would most likely make it just another free-for-all game.

then we could have npc-only factions that you can hire for extra man-power...go to a base and litterally and bribe the ppl there to spawn a raid deep in enemy territory...if you are willing to pay extra they will have torps and fly eagles or something. this way you can send them ahead to soften up enemy defenses or beat up a base so you can come in and finish it off and get out quickly.

another big thing would be getting captured...you could sell the pilot at a central location, at a price based on his lvl..npc's only, otherwise a player might be left forgotten in some corner, and you could effectivly "ban" some players by keeping them in your cargo forever .

one thing that we dont have yet is "shared" or "team" resources...like having a group of ppl all get a cut of the cash when one person finishes a trade run...this would be neat, but not really a "required".

the last thing would be to have npc's as well that patrol the jump gates and bases of friendly systems. you could even have transport ships making you money...but if you are really low on cash it might be a good idea to put one of your own pilots in a transport ship for extra cash.

now, with all this in place, picture this. its a short story i wrote for fun about a possible encounter in this faction/team oriented world.

well, it can get started now if everyone works at it...anyone interested in actually pulling this off?
