Freelancer CTF

The general place to discuss MOD''ing Freelancer!

Freelancer CTF

I would really like to see a freelancer capture the flag mod. Each team could be stationed in different systems, and flags could be pods, or cargo. The heavyer the ship, the more cargo you can hold, and the more points you can score.

Perhaps someone could make this mod?

ps. Perhaps someone could make some sort of passive/active sensor system for CTF. In passive, your radar and targeting system is off, but people can't detect you until you are really close.

*poof* and moved to the right topic.

lmao, a ctf game in space...no, thats too hard, on a flat plane it works, but in space its pointless, think about it, I WOULD like to see a deathmatch mod...

Sounds like a good idea to me, might mean people grouping with eachother and end up doing more than bickering over who gets the loot.

deathmatch wouldn't be too hard if you create your own system.

Nah, it wouldn't be that bad in three dimensions, you just need to increase sensor range so that someone can't fly way up out of the plane and disappear.
You'll see a lot more camping near the score point however... That would be the best way to recapture the flag, is to just wait for them to bring it back.

The other main problem is telling who has the flag/pod/cargo. I don't know how to set that up...

Cargo hold...

Cargo hold? I presume you mean to look in and see if you have the flag.

I mean like in FPS games where when someone has the flag, the game screams it out and displays the flag's location on a map. That way you don't have to scan every single person, which is tedious and difficult in combat. Something that would broadcast the flag's location to all players. You could possibly make the flag an item that is always on the scanner, but I don't know how that would be affected by tractoring it in.

I was thinking about this idea, and here's some of the modifications I think would be necessary to make this work.

1) Disable Cruise Engines - NP
2) Increase Scanner Range - NP
3) Create a Mission Critical 'flag' that is never destroyed, and always drops from destroyed ships. OR, make it respawn at the starting location, when the carrier is destroyed. - This is the hard one.
4) Make some sort of victory condition - NP
5) Disable weapon/equipment dropping by ships.

Here's another way of looking at it. How about, Capture the Loot?
Have a base on each end, selling a single piece of loot for $1 and buying for $100. One side sells "Red Flag", the other side sells "Blue Flag" Make it so you can only buy one per player (change cargo space to 1), and go at it. This way you will have multiple players with 'flags' making the game a little more frantic. It will also make it harder to camp and destroy people with the flag, because there's more people to watch.

The first team to get $1000 wins. Not sure how you would work this part, have to think about it. Have to make some sort of victory condition.

you wouldnt have to set cargo limit to 1. simply make the item unstackable, like escape pods for missions. that would make THAT problem go away. as to making the item sticky, so it always shows up.......look through the missions. make it a mission objective. if someone collects it, THEY become the misison objective. hehe i can spout theory on it no problem...ACHIEVING it i leave to someone a bit higher on the IQ scale than me to solve
