Tractor Distance????????????

Hi All,
Does anyone know how to tractor items that are over 999K away?
I messed arround with the misc_equip.ini like this but no luck.

max_length = 9999 i changed this to 9999 from 1500
reach_speed = 2000
color = 0.000000, 180.000000, 0.000000 ichanged the color to green too
operating_effect = tractor_beam
tractor_complete_snd = tractor_complete
lootable = false

I think that this will work but there is a catch. when loot is present, the "treasure chest ---TRACTOR ALL icon is also present. However, when I go farther away than 999 k it disapears and I can no longer activate the tractor beam. I want to have a range something like 5000 to 10000 k reach :-)

do you mean K or M? 999K is an awful long distance, even the biggest systems aren't much more than 200K across.

PLAYER_ATTACHED_EQUIP_HIT_PTS_SCALE = 5
LOOT_UNSEEN_RADIUS = 9999 i added this whole line-but it didn't work either :-(

Ok, I just was successful tractoring an item from 9999 M away!!! however, I could only do it using the "loot window" . then selecting it from the list and pressing the "individual tractoring icon that looks like the lightning bolt.

So....... does anyone know how to Keep the "Tractor All icon" (the treasure chest) there at farther ranges than 999 M?

Seems like 997m is the farthest I can be from loot and still be able to use the "grab all loot" key. This is strange, because the default tractor beam has a range of 1500! That's right folks, your unmodified tractor beam *does* work from farther away, but you have to tell it specifically what to grab.

It's most likely a constant (whether defined in the INI or hard-coded into a EXE/DLL)

I think the ability to see the target is what is important. if you can see that nanobot, you can grab it with B. if you can't, its loot window.
