"Can''t launch without a power plant!" !?!?!
I had an idea: since the engines and power plants are defined in the .ini files for each ship, why not make [Good entries in "goods.ini" for every engine and every power plant. If this worked, you would be able to mount a Sable's power plant and a Rheinland gunboat's engine on a starflier...
I started with the power plant and engine i had added for the Horus (MY modified Anubis). I made them goods for sale on my test station. When i left Manhattan the engine showed up in my inventory! The power plant didn't...
When i got to my test station, the engine AND the power plant were for sale.
I bought the power plant, and the mount thingie showed up on the icon. I clicked, it mounted. Where was my old one? Disappeared into the void. But the new one worked, and stayed in my inventory list. I bought the engine, unmounted the old one, mounted the new one, and it worked. But when i tried to get rid of the old one, the menu said: you can't sell your engine. I bought 3 more, and i couldn't sell any of them...
When i tried to launch with the power plant unmounted, I heard the nice-lady-computer-voice say "Can't launch without a power plant!" Tried with the engine unmounted: "Can't launch without engine!"
So it looks like its possible to, say, make every engine and power plant available for sale. The MAJOR bummers are:
You can buy a new engine, but you can't sell the old one.
With a new ship, the power plant is invisible. You can but a new one, and sell it back. But the invisible one is lost when you change it.
I'm no mod expert; my modified Anubis has only 13 guns. But i would REALLY like any help on this.
Please.
