Let''s get this straight...Where Mods Work

In order to help facilitate the number of questions I myself have, I figured I would try to make clear and concise posts so that others can try to find stuff easily. (Remember, this site does not have a search feature...for some strange reason)

If I were to modify my shiparch.ini, where would the mods take place?

Would they work in a Multiplayer Game?
Would they work in my existing Saved Games in Single Player Mode?
If I start a new game in SP, will they work?

Thanks for helping in advance. Hopefully, this will curb similar questions in the future.

Probably, but you'd be putting the stability of the server at risk.

Probably not, though there's the odd chance that it might (so I can't provide any guarantees ).

Yep, definitely.

What do you mean "Where"? In the game of course.

Yes (with few exceptions)

Could you explain these exceptions?

I think it would be a tremendous help for all of us if we knew exactly where to look to see if our modifications are actually working or not.
