What about mines that emit radiation? Not too useful, but it would be fun to have.
Or a class 10 shield that prevents radiation damage?
Or maybe both, it'd be a nice combo

well how about making a new interface in the hud where can select a system, press a button, then get the nice jump scene and then appear in a system. no jumpgates needed. a kind of personal intersystem jump drive? now theres a real challenge genius.

@ gag, that would require one hell of a huge ship to house the jump drive
