Perma-Death

Ok, my friends and I have a private server going right now, and are attempted to mod it for our playstyle.

We're going to play with the speeds of the ships, lighter goes faster, Weapon speeds (mainly just mines and missles), cruise speed (traveling 30k is boring at a 300 speed...we are thinking 500-600 cruise). We plan on putting the NPC regen shields, to make it a bit tougher, and nerf some of the cheesy trade routes that get you to lvl 39 in a few hours.

But what we think would be really fun is adding perma-death. You die, your dead, start a new character and try catching up again...but, since we're newbies with the whole mod server stuff, we're wondering if anybody would have some sort of direction with this? Obviosly it would have to be server side, and would probably have to boot the player from the server and delete the character.

Anybody have any ideas how to get this to work?

Lance

Sounds harsh I don't even know if its possible. Maybe in the penalty place you can. Dunno where that is. I'm curious bout this too.

I used to hate weddings cause all my aunts and grandmas would poke me and say "Your next sonny[!" They stopped when I started doing it to them at funerals

Read my post thread of 'Pilot Escape Pod loot added'.

it can be done. I do it for my personal Privateer MOD Single Player Universe (for now, alot of work, later MP).

If I die, I restart back on Manhatten (or where ever you want) with a completly stripped down Flying Coffin Starflier ship.

I need to decide if your cash should be either a set amount low to get back going real hard, or you keep your last cash only amount (not net worth). After all, your bank with your cash did not die with you; if you are "resurrected" back to life; but you will need to spend money to buy another ship and equipment. A decent balanced penalty. Do not die too many times, go broke.

So die hard and live free! LOL

Sounds like a good idea...

What file do you have to edit for penalties though?
