** utility ** ini editor

Hi, I've made an ini editor. it only works on compressed ini files (will add uncompress ini files support later).

can you tell me if you like it?

(it still needs a bit more work done (find only finds an exact match (want a substring search), and replace needs to be better).

to d/l it put this into the address bar
http://www.geocities.com/i_dunno22345/

after the page loads put this in there

Doesn't anyone like it?

Well the source is there, just uploaded the current version. (None of the bugs are fixed, was working on creating mods for mod manager, still might, but i wish mod manager has a few more commands =()

Does nobody like it? I even give full source code (which if anybody has even seen, is nearly being able to canvert to a mod file for that mod program with no typing what so ever), even an INI parser gets more replies that an INI editor.

I am starting to think I am ignored. Who was the first person to say where all the constants are located? Oh that's right, I had no replies to that either (just look in common.dll)

I dl'ed and opened it, but it doesn't seem to let me actually edit anything. It only displays the values and such in the left pane. The right pane just stays blank.

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world:
those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Left click on a selected item and tells me it doesn't let you edit.

When you want to replave the mass of every ship, use replace mass to old_mass. Then use AddMultipleEntries to add the same mass to every single ship.

I could go on. Like the fway it finds.

And who was the person who said where the constants are stored? I got no answer, or thanks then.

(common.dll), i allready had CRUISING_SPEED when most people couldn't even figure out where it was from.

Did anyone answer me then? I swear it's my nick.

This is blatant discrimination, just becuase I don't post as much as some people. Ask anyone here what my INI edotor is like.

I doubt you have even tried it. Why should I implement a list box for what is being typed when so many people here can do soooo much better?

Why should I even try and ask that mod person for a few extra commands to make saveing as a mod easier.

Why should I speak to myself again.

Well, looks... i really like the idea of that programm, but i dont really understand how it works, what is the right window for?
section is always the stuff which is in brackets? (e.g. object or zone..)
a node is an entry like ids_name or nickname?
and an entry is the thing that comes behind the = ?
would be usefull if i could click onto a section and it would show nodes and entries in the right window to edit them there, like regedit...

and right now i doesn't really helps me cause it only lets me work on uncompressed files, while all the files i need already are decompressed... also, maybe all zones, archetypes and whatsoever should be sorted under own tags...

Please let me know if u update this :-)
Good work though
Thanx

I knew my icons wern't very descriptive =(

OK icons :
? = Uknown (only happens on the root node so far)
Folder = An ini file (compressed)
[A = A section
A funny blobby purple o thingy is a node.

Rest are different depending on the datatype.

BTW, the right pane is a list box. and the tree view items will be showing the first node ant the first entry in brackets soon).

(The right pane cannot be done until there are no visible bugs).

Umm only lets you work on uncompressed files when your files are allready are uncompressed? This only opens compressed files for a reason (to automake a mod of the differences is one thing). The source is there, would only take about a hundred lines to add support for opening uncompressed files.

I could explain why I prefer compressed (I prefer to say stored, since that is the worse compression ever). It doesn't really matter anyway.

And what happened last time I posted here, saying where all the constants were located? Not one single reply, when what I gave got past the 300 limit.

common.dll, search for PysSysConsts, did anyone even read what I said then?

Post Wed Mar 19, 2003 4:13 pm

With comments from yourself like the previous ones in your thread I'm not surprised you aren't getting many replies.

Take it all in stride, strive to improve as best you can, and move forward. As far as the constants issue, perhaps NO ONE knew at the time you asked...or perhaps the people that did know hadn't read your post.

Keep up the good work though. This community needs all the self made support it can get since so far it hasn't heard a peep from dev.

No one knew, and as far as I know no one knows now. Since a normal MS find using text doesn't find the desired text.

I'm just drinking too much like allways, did you try my program?

Post Wed Mar 19, 2003 6:31 pm

I_dunno, may I point out to you that there is an edit-button?
As i told you on mIRC, we don't ignore/discriminate/hate you or something. Just igve people the time to try it out and give their comments.

Edit button? Why would I want to edit the past, that is allready written is on stone, that what can be written.

Anyway I only ever seen you on IRC. If you think my program is crap just say so.

I'll leave my comments about that mod thingy for someone more knowledgeable than me.

Hi I've just started using your editor, mostly because I dont like having to use the dos command line with FLini. Its a bit odd to get used to at first but its really useful, thanks for making it.
