there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers.

get bini.exe, you should be able to get it somewhere, the url can probably be found somewhere in this forum.

bini is an ini parser

it decompresses freelancers ini files to uncompressed ini files....

uncompressed ini files can be read and written by any notepad-like editor, probably word-like also, but who would want to use word?....

anyway make sure you backup the original file before you start...

bini creates a "original_name.ini.txt" (where original name is the name of the ini-file in question). backup that original file (move or rename it) the remove the .txt from the parsed file and you have an uncompressed ini file...

freelancer uses the uncompressed files and compressed files alike, so don't worry about recompressing...

and about 'stupid' questions 'real' modders 'rule' this forum, they don't like questions like yours because it seems stupid, but for you or me or anyone who's new to this, this is the stuff you want to know...

however these other guys are right in saying you should read through most of the forum before asking something like this.... many questions already have answers, and therefore need not be asked...

have fun!
