Can it be done? Please help.

I was wondering if you can in any way make it so that using energy (for energy weapons) costs money? If anyone knows anything about this please put in your two cents. I happened to notice that using missiles is pretty dumb since many weapons will give you quite a lot of firepower for free, and missiles just aren't economical in that respect. I think however if you had to pay money for each shot or a certain amount of energy used then it'd be more realisitic and better balanced. Failing this i hope to convert level 5-10 weapons into ammo weapons (as well as energy if possible) and have an ammo type for each class of weapon so level 5 weapons cost $1 per shot, and level 10 $5 per shot, in this way i'm hoping to balance things... lol.


(Note :When i'm done my mod, if anyone is interested i can ake it downloadable along with my mod to change speeds of ships so they all have their own speed (banshee fastest ship = 140 speed) freighters = 50-65 and hvy fighters 80-100. Also to keep things balanced i changed missile/mine speeds, and while i was at it made them have slightly varied stats in accordance with the type of missile/mine).

Well, I donno if thats possible, maybe with alot of coding, but i do have many doughts on it.

I'm not sure you can actully edit normal guns to be using ammo. I mean, when I tried this, the ammo didn't appear, maybe it was my error, I didn't really go into searching and such. But I would think it would have to be a missile to req ammo, But, hell, im prob wrong

Why don't you use missiles? Would it be possible to change missiles so that they fire their ammo directly, without targeting?

It sounds nice with the ammo/energy issues workaround.. but can't you post your speedmod now, i would like to try it out.

I've tried putting new ammo in as well and it just doesn't seem possible using new weapon placement methods. As for rocket type munitions, try looking at the libert battleship flak turrets. They use missile ammo but the seeker is set to dumb so it doesn't home in. Only problem is that its not rapid fire capable.
