Diversity of race on Lancers Reactor

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I know words like "Vous avez les gros sein, peut je touche?" and "s'asseoir sur ma visage, et dire Je t'aime!"...

If women speak French they sound sexy.

If men speak it they sound gay.

looking back on it, I don't think we have much diversity of race on TLR. Diversity of nationality and location, but afaik apart from a few members of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese descent, almost everyone is white, if not anglo-saxon. I don't really count Hispanics as being non-white, although I appreciate in Amerika that's something that's seen quite differently. I have no idea if we have any black or indian colleagues. It might be interesting as a demographic exercise to find out, but that might be seen as prying?

Tawakalnistan of course is a multi-racial society - everyone is treated equally badly, apart from me

Mrs Taw wants to know if any of the Canadans or Alaskians are eskimos?

Sheebus! With that mix you should technically hate yourself.

Technically, American isn't a background, even being born here. All Americans are from other nationalities. Except for that little patch of sand belonging to the tasseled one.

Well I am not Swisss despite what Taw says.

@FD: Well going on that basis none of us are from a nation as our ancestors came from elsewhere if we go back far enough. We are all just pond scum really! How long does the U.S. have to be in existance before people from America can say "I am American" without including the "...one quart French on my mother's granny's side, a pinch of African-Irish and my father's gerbil's physio therapist's boyfriend was Dutch"?

Well you could argue that the only true Americans are American Indians, and even then they didn't call their own country America so who knows.

Post Fri Nov 16, 2007 3:25 am

Well the "native Americans" are suspected to be descnedents of Mongolian Nomads who crossed into Alaska when the continents were still joined above sea level. Like I say, keep goin' and we are all just pond scum so perhaps we just accept that America is a country in and of it's self now and that it's people are Americans.

I am Irish and we pride ourselves on our Celtic heritage, my name is a direct reference to the pagan history of my country but the Celts arrived after the Megalithic age. Druids are commonly attributed the honour of building Newgrange and other famous sites but these actually date to nearly 2,000 years before the Celtic arrival. Some theories say that a group known as the "Firbolg" lived in Ireland pre-Celtic time and the translation from Gaelic is either "Bag Men" as they were nomadic or "Men of Belgium". Taking the latter anyone who says they are American of Irish descent may really be Belgian.

Point? Every race and country can trace it's roots to another. It just strikes me that in America they hang on to the "Irish on my fater's side, one eighth German on my mother's" to the point that they are ashamed to just say "American". Granted you may say they are proud of their roots but there is a real sense of clinging onto them.

well hello to you, fw; don't think we've had a Brazilian colleague apart from your good self, but then I don't spend much time in other fora, apart from SL. I've never been to Brazil myself, but my best friend was brought up there, lived in Rio then Sao Paolo for 16 years, and loved every minute of it.
