Lucas Arts & Battlestar Galactica

Okay. So I though I would play around with Starlancer, I bought the game for, ya know, five bucks, off a discount game rack after being stuck with the Demo for a coupla weeks.

I started by extracting the HOG files. Easy enough. I've got three directories now, Resource, CD1 and CD2, with the respective HOG files extracted to said directories.

In the resource directory, I noticied a number of TGA files. Thought they looked interesting, I've heard of games using TGA files as textures so I thought I would examine them. Pop them up in adobe, they don't work.

So before hitting the Forums I cruise the downloads and find the unpacker program. Very useful. So I start hand unpacking every TGA file that's loaded in the resource directory. Still won't load in Adobe (My version is old and defunct).

So I download a shareware program called TurboView off of the net and start popping open the TGA files, cause this thingy'll let me view 'em.

I found two files inpaticualr that jumped out at me, and I am curious to explain their exsistance. The first is bg_splash.TGA, and contains a lens flare like effect with the text BattleStar Galactica layed over it in a cool graphic like effect.

The second is called test.tga and contains a graphic I know and love - the Lucasarts Logo, with the Warthog logo down in the bottom right hand corner.

Can anyone explain this to me?

Also, my objective here was to extract the Texture files for the ship, something I'll admit I am remiss in my ability to do. Despite my best efforts I can't seem to figure it out. Help, anyone?

Good luck, although I doubt many modders of Starlancer are still around.....

Well, about the 2 graphics, it seems that Warthog sent LucasArts a techdemo to get a contract to make a new space sim.
And BSG, well, the did continue to make the BSG Game for the X-Box

Extracting textures: they are in the tcachehw file. I can't remember exactly how to extract it, but I think there was an option in SLEdit...
