It depends on how many memory slots you have now and what sort of memory is already present. Look inside your case or have someone who knows computers look inside, and figure out what you can expand your memory to.

i have two memory slots . i started off with 512 then i bought another 512 and i put it in my self . i know enough about conputers but the thing is i want more power meaning ram and the guy at dell told me that i can only have one gig. now i want to know what do i have to do . do i have to change the mother board or the processer its intel 4 chip

i know i problably need a new mother board with 4 slots

If funds are available, I would look to upgrade. 2gb ram is a must these days, and as it has no AGP slot, you cant add that type of card to it. On the whole, it looks a few years old. Can you pop for a newer one, or are you looking to bukld yourself?

You may as well gut the box of what you can salvage, sell what you can't, and upgrade. Go to like newegg.com or zipzoomfly.com and price yourself out a dual core econobox with 2 gigs of RAM and make yourself a happy camper.

You'll need to buy a copy of XP Pro as I don't think your Dell XP Home licence is transferrable to your new computer.

i asked some question on dells support the support program say i can install 2 gigs of ram and i have 2 slots so i am going to wait to see what dell has to say . then i will probly buy 2 one gig cards and ditch my 512 s

Depend on if your motherboard is original, and if it is, acording to the spects, it can't take more than 1gb ram.

It's easy to upgrade to 1 gig ram boards if you know where to shop.
(That would give you a total of 2 gig ram)

As long as it's compatable...it doesn't have to cost you an arm.
I upgraded mine to only 1 gig about 2 years ago..and that's more than
enough for all my Freelancer applications.
I have a custom built pc with 1 gig ram, a pretty decent nVidia Card
and an Athelon64 for more graphic intensive applications. It handles Freelancer
like it was nothing and I use it to play Guild Wars.
I might upgrade it to 2 gig ram when I feel like it.

Really, imho there aren't too many applications that's going to take up
2 billion (2 gig) in ram.

It's even possible to upgrade to a terabyte in storage quite easily.

Internal graphics, eh? Considering the fact that FL is an older game, you should be able to play it without any problems. However, I'm not sure how well the PC will perform in higher resolutions such as 1600x1050 or 1600x1200, etc.

Yeah, watch-out for Intel integrated. Even the GMA950 is a bit weak compared to modern graphics chipsets so you should see about the ability to add-in a video card.

But for Freelancer it should be OK. I think I may have actually played FL on an i815E integrated chip, but don't quote me on that.
