Hi Topher,

Is that Series number right? It seems a lot like the Presario V2575us.
The only V2000T series I can find run the new Intel Duo Proc's.

Ok, I now have laptop envy...lol That is a very nice machine there. You should be able to play about any game up to this date and time with it...

did you buy it yourself or is it a work one?

Post Fri Jan 27, 2006 10:07 am

Indy, we were both wrong, it is the v2570nr. Got it from Best Buy.

Taw its mine (actually my wife and I share it) we needed it for our schooling.

I really like it. It is so smooth, it is a little faster than my desktop at home!

quanta costa per piacere?

Post Fri Jan 27, 2006 11:23 am

I got it on sale for $750. Then paid for the service plan only because it now covers accidental damage! total was $1050 after taxes and all. I'd say I got a sweet deal since the laptop is normally $900.

Why Taw, you in the market for a new one?

Post Sat Jan 28, 2006 2:37 am

just a vague professional interest in relative costs between the Great Satan and the Sceptred Isle. You did very well there, even if you did get bum-raped on the service plan; take my word for it, it ain't worth the paper it's written on. But you saved so much on the machine itself that I don't suppose it matters. In real money not colonial currency you paid under £500 for it, same item is a grand over here, thats around $1500. Bit of a difference isn't there? You lot get everything much cheaper than we do I knew we shouldn't have given you independence. You were meant to be a dumping ground for our shoddy manufactures.

I used to work for best buy, and so did my wife... we know the merrits of the service plans. This one is worth it. Basically if I bring the laptop back in pieces, they have to fix it and if they can't, I get what i paid for it toward a new one!

that's not a paid insurance policy to have, eh?

Post Tue Jan 31, 2006 12:05 pm

better. as long as you ain't getting bummed. after all, there are warranties and *warranties* and I've made many a happy £ selling worthless extended warranties to retail mugs (cashback schemes were also a handy source of easy profit)

Post Tue Jan 31, 2006 7:14 pm

If you want, I could look over the terms of that accidental damage coverage.
I assume theft and other stuff also is covered.

Anyway, I've been thinking about a branded laptop myself. I've looked into building one but I have to admit that my "fine motor skills" are not what they used to be so I'd rather not have to work with cramped space and awkward fittings.

I wouldn't even try building a laptop. If I wanted to get one for myself I'd bite the bullet and get one from the store, bloated Windows installation and all.

I can build desktops all day any day, though

Post Wed Feb 01, 2006 6:22 am

Doesn't cover theft, it's just a service plan for the store, so if something goes wrong with the laptop in the next 3 years, then they have to fix it.

I would never build a laptop either come to think of it, I can't imagine how tight a work space that would be.

my laptop's rubbish

it's not so rubbish anymore, I just upgraded it via el cheapo stuff off eBuy. tootles along quayt naycley now, although as a Celeron it's not a patch on Toper's Turion-based beast or FD's new toy.

shut up Wabbit, I didn't buy it, remember?
