Notepad

Well I know this isn't hardware, but this is the place to ask anyways I think. Notepad. I have a problem. Somewheres along the line, my various antivirus/spyware shields managed to target notepad as a virus and delete it. Not having a basic text editor makes things like modding FL very difficult as reading INI's in word/wordpad is somewhat awkward, not to mention examining html documents etc. Is there any way I can get this back??? It also makes for a fuss because its the default editor for .txt files even though the executable is gone, so its always "choose a program to improperly display this file" every time.

bizarre. that's some weird malarkey going on.

first, update your AV and run a full system scan. what AV is it btw?

secondly, run a registry cleaner like Norton Windoctor or Registry mechanic through your system.

if that doesn't sort it,

thirdly, uninstall Notepad from control panel>add/remove windows components, reboot, then re-install Notepad from control panel>add/remove windows components (you may need the Windows cd for that)

then go to folder options/file types and associate with Notepad .ini's and .txt's and anything else you want to view text-based

and while you're waiting for all that rubbish to finish, you can make us some more Lego!

At this point I've been without it so long I'm not sure if it was the AV or my own carelessness, but in either case, the .exe is quite gone. As far as AV goes I use eTrust in combination with Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, and MS antispyware. With the legos, I'm afraid all I've got right now is an excellent space shuttle model I've designed myself (which is of course far superior to any stock catalog versions), but I'll look into doing something more with FL. If you've motivated Taw, you can send them your picture and have them design a custom mosaic of your face, for a modest fee.
