PC Video Recording Software

Does anyone know of some good software (preferably free) that records video (preferably .wmv) of what's going on on the screen, like a game or something. Just something the friends and I want to do to make LAN parties more fun.

I did some searching and found FRAPS.

I also found something interesting, seeing as I was planning on using Battlefield 1942 (gets good FPS, runs on all my computers, works pretty well) I found Battlefield Movie Edition, which gives you a camera view, which could also come in handy.

Now all I need are plotlines and one-liners...

how about the story of a cowardly infantryman who hid in hole until all the fighting was over then got up and claimed he won the battle when everyone was dead? sounds like most of my online play that does!
