New to Freelancer

Hey guys, I just got my hands on Freelancer and I have a few questions, just basically an indepth newbie tutorial.

I would like to know: -

1. Whats the latest patch either company/community made so I have the latest popular version.
2. I heard about this SDK thing that fixes a lot of bugs and is kind of like a patch?
3. Also I heard there are modding tools available, what are these?

I think thats all I need to know...

Cool game btw, it's a few years old now so I guess there aren't a lot of servers around?

oPwnagEo, welcome to TLR.

There are no patches needed for Singleplayer game, only for Mp and server side at that.

The SDK is a decoded Data file in the freelancer game, useful if you want to mod.

There is a forum, General Editing to help with modding, and a Utilities forum with the tools needed to mod all from new ships to editing Ini files. And a Editing Tutorial Forum

Welcome!

Keep in mind the SDK is much much more than a base for modding. It is a prerequisite for most large or TC mods these days, such as Rebalance, Evolutions, etc. Its a good thing to have installed even if you aren't running a modded game, as it repairs several glitches in the original FL design, and results in more stable, enjoyable gameplay.

There were patches for SP and MP Freelancer, actually. I think they released up to a 1.12 full game patch. This is off of very old, potentially corrupt memory (the type in my head), as the last time I patched Freelancer must have been about a year ago
