ok i wasn't sure if i should do this but what the ***, if you start DO NOT DO THE MISSONS FOR THE STORY even if it says do it keep doing the sub-missions that way you wont do what i did when i went into rheindland in a rubbish ship.

Unfortuanly, you have to do the story missions, inorder for gate/holes to be opened for you. once you get out of Ney York, you can travel a bit. But, you have to do a couple storys to get it further. I picked up a rim ship once, took me a while to get there and make enough credits to do it.
