Is this what you did.
Make sure your saved games folders are empty. Singleplayer and Multiplayer
Download Crossfire1.5.zip.flmod
Double left click on - Crossfire1.5.zip.flmod
A screen pops up telling you that the file is being unzipped
20 seconds later the Freelancer Mod Manager screen pops up
and then Crossfire Mod 1.5 appears in the - List of Mods
Click on - Crossfire Mod 1.5
Click on - Activate Mod
Mod unzips into the = Freelancer Mod Manager\mods - folder
Start Freelancer
Have a blast
