Get close to a tradelane ring, and shoot it. If you click on the ring, you'll see it's "energy bar" for it's power. The graphics will reflect a disruption (breaking of the rings power shield etc) and anything travelling through will be dropped back into normal space.

The shield "rebuilds" (recharges) itself after a short time (15 seconds?) and things will pass through it once more, so shoot it again.

will the trade lane shoot back at you.

only if you are hostle to the faction that it belongs too or if you killed a ship that it's allyed w/ or part of the faction it belongs too.

The future isn't what it used to be....
