Welcome to TLR

Yes, if its a Multi-player mod, the the server would need to have the same mod.

Single player is a mod that runs through the story line of the game.

Open single player lets you by-pass the story line and free lance from the get go.

thx finalday...much appreciated! how do you know if a server uses a MOD or not? I've noticed many of the larger MOD's have servers created around them, how would I know if the smaller MODs are supported or not?

Start freelancer, choose Multiplayer, choose internet (be online when you do this0, it connects to globel server, lists all the servers running FL and click on one, at the bottom it tells mod running, and wether you need a password or something else.

hey does any one know what it takes to run a server that can hold up to 30 or 50 players? i really need help on this. i have a server that is becoming popular faster than i thought and it keeps crashing when 20 people log on.

Post Mon Sep 19, 2005 11:53 am

The crashes may not be caused by the amount of players, it may be caused by characters that are modifying things and since the server files are not in sync with the player files this causes a crash.
If this is not the case you can of coarse limit the number of players when you start up flserver.exe you'll see a box with the number of players allowed.
By default it is set at 16.
Adjust accordingly until you find an the number that don't cause the server to crash.
You should be getting a yellow and or red icon on screen that is flashing giving you a warning.

The only suggestion I can give you is to watch when this happens and the player that just logged on is the culprit. Although the crash may not happen immediately, it happens when they use that modified piece of equipment.

Also if you're not already using the IONCROSS Server Operator program by Joe Boomz you may want to install and use it.

well i have the player count set to 50 and it crashes every time it gets to 20 or more. but before the crash it gets in the yellow around 15 players but when 18 get on its stays in the red. is there any thing i should do hard ware wise. i have 2 cpu both are hyper threaded 3.g ghz and 2 gig of memory what more do i need i am getting the same results from when i used my desktop that had 3.0 ghz and 512 memory

Are you using a MOD?
With that computer you shouldn't have a problem with 50 players.

You might want to do a clean install of Freelancer...not sure if that would help but it sounds like there is definitely a problem somewhere.
By clean install I mean delete the Freelancer folder and then reinstall Freelancer.

Unfortunately I'm not the best technician around. Hopefully one of the server operators will see your post and help.

You might want to post in the Freelancer Server Forum.

Could someone please tell me how to start open singleplayer mode?

You can play Open Singleplayer games by installing the Freelancer Mod Manager to activate and deactivate MOD's.

Then you need one of the Open Singleplayer MOD's
there are 4 that I know of that just enable singleplayer mode.

Open Singleplayer Lite by Chips
OpenSP MOD v1.1 by Xerx
Open Singleplayer FuBi Edition by FuBi
Open Singleplayer MOD by Chips

You'll have to pick which of these Open Singleplayer MOD's that you want to use but they all work and all do different things. Read the MOD's description when you go to that MOD's download page.
If you don't know about the Freelancer SDK v1.3 files you may want to install the SDK files before you activate any MOD's. Some MOD's need the SDK files or they wont work.
Besides it cant hurt.

Hello and thank you all for this kewl site!
I am a newbie and unfamiliar with a lot of this darn computer stuff, lol, but I love FL and have been visiting this site for about a year. I started downloading some mods and playing them in SP, as I'm really not into MP. Then I got Drizzt's shipbuilding tut and it lit a fire. FL is now not just my love, it is my passion...

After getting into this I realized how much work goes into these things, and I must say Bravo!! Keep up all the good work guys (and gals!?) With a little help from y'all I'm hoping to have my first custom ship for you.

Thanks again

Keep your thrusters lit

First of all, a quick "Thank you" is in order for all the ppl who have invested their time and effort into building and maintaining this site.

I've used the site for info and such for quite some time and i've always wondered how to accomplish what they did with their Nav Map. Any help would be appreciated, cause the things i've tried didn't work.

Hello, I was once Xsonic901, but I was betrayed by my password, so technically I am not new, as I have played the storyline over 12 times, I am quite familiar with the game, although I have forgotten a few things.
