FLU is in need of help

I will first describe our situation,then the mod we would like to have made.Our situation is that we are all in a fairly large server,international,and we have only two admins to manage it and the forums.Several of us have gotten together privatly and decided to experiment with the mods that have been suggested and perhaps submit to the admins for addition into the server.Our plight is that none of us have any experience modding.I am willing to negotiate a final pay,but it will not be a large paycheck,as I am paying for school,but this could be fun,and I might learn something along the way.The mod we need is based on the clan system we have going right now.We would like to introduce clan NPCs into the game,with fighters,capital ships,and bases.We need to be able to set the alignment of the NPCs with each individual player,as well as with each other NPC group.Also,we need to be able to edit in fighters,change their patrol paths,and have them respawn/regen at specific times.We need to be able to edit the statistics of clan NPCs,and have them be able to move in system normally,as well as go thru jumpgates.Bases need to be able to placed anywhere in three dimensions preferably,although two will do,as does the capital ships and fighter patrols.I will give some examples that should answer any questions you might have,if not please e-mail me at [email protected]. Fighter examples:a clan buysan outcast fighter,as well as an upgrade for that fighter,the upgrade allows the fighter to regen every half hour.another clan has the same outcast fighter without the mod,we need it not to regen.A clan has a liberty gunboat and three rhineland cruisers:the liberty gunboats can repair capital ships if upgraded, the mod needs to see which clan has the mod,and adjust the regen rate of the capitals accordingly.A clan has a super capital ship that can regen every half an hour due to its maintenece crew,that rate doubles if there is a Rhineland gunboat in system.Fighters can respawn if there is a freindly shipyard or capital ship with fighter bays in it in the system,and the rate varies with the level the clan has the shipyard at,the same is true for regens,also,bases need to be repared and have adjustable healths,the same is true for everything here,all clan NPCs and bases need to be completly adjustable.Also,we need a gun or missle system players can carry to repair NPCs.This also must be an entirly server side mod.If it is not possible,will someone please tell me,and if it is,will someone contact with information.While free labor would be great,I will pay to a certain extent.Please e-mail with any suggestions or ideas. I'm afraid that a lot of what you are talking about, with regeneration because of equipment and commodities, would not be possible without .exe editing or using an outside program to manage this stuff. (As I:TW uses.) Especially when you are talking about regeneration due to other units or players in system, is just not what the FL engine was made for, and the only possible way to implement this would be to build an outside program to monitor player locations and adjust statuses at regular intervals.

However, the bases, reps, and encounters are totally possible and in cases fairly easy if you use a graphical program liks FLE for aspects of it. (Like placing new bases and encounters, which can be a real pain to hand code into the INIs.)

Anyways, good luck with this! I played on your server, and met some good people there, unfortunatly, some bad experiances have kept me from playing there for a long time.

What sort of problems,and when?My clan is built to solve such problems.Maybe you should come back.If anyone can mod just a portion of this,or knows someone who can,please tell me.

Well, the problems were my fault, and I take full responsibility for them, but I still cannot play on your server. (Catch my drift?)

As I said, the things that CAN be done aren't that hard. I know how to do most of it myself, and I only learned to mod not long ago. The problem is that most of it is time-consuming, especially if you want lots of custom factions, because hand-coding factions in the INIs can take several hours.

However, I have a proposition for you, that would benefit you guys and me as well, but it would be better to discuss it over email. Email me at [email protected] if it intruigues you.

Anyway it seems like an awsome idea, but, like he said, the stuff that can't be done is much to complecated. (spelled it wrong, i know, I dont feel like fixing it) It's a good idea with the bases though, however you're going to have to probably buy a base from the admin's themselves, yet the super market is closed, and if you have noticed, all the clans are going through a money crisis due to the war. This is why I protested the closing of the banks. Anyhoo, your ideas nice, but the clan bases have to be either invincible or very strong, because the servers gonna get very flamy and angry if they lost a 30 million credits base.

All in all the idea is awsome, yet a little too advance at the moment. I think we should finish these wars up, regain lost territory and money, and refortify our clans before we add something like this, or even try to.
