I need a ship

I need someone to build me a "CAM Ship"
A very very small invisible ship, dosent need weapons or anything, just to be very very fast and invisible.

able to turn on a dime, must be able to go extreamly fast without useing cruise.
cruise must be instant no chargeing

The only way to make an invisible ship is to give it cloak which is...not allowed. You could make it dark and give it no engine signature but the scanners would still pick it up.

Just make a very small ship, make a small .sur file, change the settings in shiparch.ini and engine_equip.ini and you have your "CAM" Ship.

It's easy to build a ship that's invisible, if that's what you're intending to use it for. This solution is totally useless for cheating, because if you try to use it, other people will still be able to see you, if the mod uses this ship- you just won't see yourself. So don't even bother, if your intentions aren't honorable

1. Go get *any* one-ship addon mod. For example, there's a mod that just adds the Snowspeeder from Star Wars.

2. Go into the ship's files ... Data-->Ships-->FolderWhereShipIs ... and you will see at least 3 files: ShipName.cmp ShipName.mat and ShipName.sur.

Delete ShipName.mat.

Now the ship has no .MAT file... and the engine won't render it. But it'll still render the engines, and other things- simply use HardCMP to move all of the hardpoints way back in the z. This will make the ship useless for fighting, but you're not using it for fighting anyhow.

....but personally, I think this quest is a total waste of time. After all, FL has a Cockpit view (ctrl-v) and you can turn the Cockpit off (Options) which is a lot less work and makes your ship 100% invisible, if you're using it for filming purposes.

Now... making the GUI invisible... if that's you next question... is rather difficult, but most of it can be made invisible too. But it involves a lot of graphic hacking and UTF work, and I'm not sure if you're up for that.

GUI?

Any one know how to get rid of the HUD and crosshairs?
Thanks for your imput, i appreciate it!

Post Tue Nov 30, 2004 3:53 pm

Getting rid of the HUD and crosshairs involves opening up the relevant TXM files and altering the graphics. You need UTF Edit to get inside of these files to import/export the data to the relevant formats (for GUI stuff, almost everything is TGA)

If you open up: DATA/INTERFACE/ BUTTONTEXTURES.TXM, for example, you'll see a whole bunch of graphics depicting the interface buttons. Making them 100% black will cause them to quit showing up (don't alter their size or anything, or FL will crash).

... and you guys with cloak cheats... don't pass them out to strangers... geez. I'm half-tempted to make a stink about it, especially considering one of you is a clan player, but I'll cut you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you don't use these things online. BTW Shadowbain, if you haven't found out by trying what they have to offer yet... then you should know that for making a movie, a cloak cheat's useless.

Umm Argh...if its not to much trouble could you help me out with it, or do it?

i umm...*Cough* er...dont know how to do any very real modding like that

Post Tue Nov 30, 2004 4:52 pm

I can help you if you get stuck, but as with anything that would take a couple of hours or more... if you want it done, then you're going to have to do it yourself.

Now, that said: UTF Edit can be found by searching from the News page here (the "main page", and it's pretty easy to do what you want to do:

1. Open up UTF Edit.

2. Click on the "open" button, and find the appropriate TXM file.

3. Open up the Texture Library tree. If you're looking at buttontextures.txm, for example, you're going to see entires like HUD_targetingelement. If you click on that you're going to see entries that say MIP0 all the way down to MIP8. These are the TGA files that are being used by the game. Export them (don't forget to put the .tga extension on the end), edit them... and then import them back in... and save your work.

It's really not hard, just time-consuming. You can do it

NOTE: if you're going to do this... do be sure to back up the files first... or make a mini-mod (just re-create the directory structure and stick everything in FLMM's mods folder... go look at little mods people have done if that's confusing)... I'd go the mini-mod route, myself, as then it'd be much less likely that I'd hose my FL installation and have to reinstall (not like I don't have to do that a lot, as a mod dev.).

if you want an invisible ship, well, even i could do that. i think
ok, u good modders. tell me if this would work.
Create ur ship, simply by opening up a ship creator (like MS3D) and starting a new file. do nothing, and save it as a ship. now use shipscripter and put nothing for the contrails and guns and such.
use the hud killer idea(making it completely black) that should kill the crosshairs. but thatd make manuvering hard too =)
after that, a simple sound kill, add musin, and there u go

You wanna keep you brain inside you head I'd tell those boys to CHILL
from Halo 2

To use a ship for "filming" all you need to do is edit your preferred ship's camera settings.

This is from the Default ship, in the Shiparch.ini file, but they all have a similar setting:
camera_offset = 6, 22---------Increase until the ship is offscreen

In the engine_equip.ini, change your ship's "linear_drag =" to a suitably tiny number.
And change "cruise_charge_time = 0," and "cruise_power_usage = 0" to make cruise almost instantanious, and longer lasting.

In the Constants.ini file, add "CRUISING_SPEED =" under the "EngineEquipConsts" section.
And "ANOM_LIMITS_MAX_VELOCITY =" under the "PhySysConsts" section.
(Test to see what numbers suit your needs.)

Watch your 6!
