To answer certain allegations by Wilde.

Promotheus is not the source of degeneracy in the rp - it was created as a plot device. Essentially, a way to ensure that if we have to end this first round, we can do it in a big way. The round essentially ended around about the Battle of Leeds, and most of the stuff since then has really just been making sure we can give this some kind of closure before we start the NEXT round.

OOC: yay im back at last i can get on with this
Now to say a few things:
Larings can be killed by COMBINED arms attacks so if we attack with a variaty of wepons we can beat him
and richardson i've spent this whole RPG makeing my forces the way they are, i dont want the turned upside down by you at the last minute

And jacob please go ahead with the battle i would like to have this final battle now so that we can start afresh(By the way im writing that second part of the other fan fic)

To richardson:

Unless you somehow managed to crack the encryption codes on the junker transmissions you would have no possible way of knowing where any of my ships were heading. In fact unless you happened to be inhumanly observant you would not have known the ships were going anywhere at all until it was to late.

anyway...

Norwich Base in orbit around planet Cambridge:

"Sir, the last of the supplies are loaded. We are set to depart."

"Good. Have you determined the source of that energy anomoly yet?"

"Apparently we must have picked up an old tracking device somewhere. It should be removed and deactivated shortly."

"Send a message back to New Albany. Suggest that they change their encryption frequency and be on the alert for uninvited guests."

"Yes sir."

Hey Arilias--who suggested the idea of ending the bloody rpg?? YOU! I want this thing to continue, I don't want to start afresh. It was going all fine and dandy and along comes bloody larings created out of your bloody head and sends it sprawling.

I really don't want this thing to end. Rather a slow death by stagnancy than a quick and fast murder by psychomaniacs like larings and ARILIAS!!!

The flames/spam have been removed. Continue the "story" if you want. If not, it may end sooner.

Thanks FD!
Some of this was starting to get a bit nasty.
Glad a mod had the patience to slog through the massive amount of posts here to weed out the bad ones!
I am at school now, so when I get home, I will post the final battle story. Then, I will start the new RPG, after we wrap up here.

Dr. Larings entered the New Madrid system. His ships follwed. They were in a large nebula cloud, near the edge. Larings moved out of the nebula, and the ships followed.
He reached the edge, and what he saw didn't suprise him. Over ten thousand ships, of different sizes, waited for him. Larings smiled. All his enemies would die in one glorius battle, and he would rule Sirius.

The rest will come in an hour or two.

ww2jacob, on the bridge of the Empire, gave the order to fire. Within a few seconds, space was filled with MAC shots from the HA, and energy lances and torpedos from the Axis. He smiled. Larings had no chance of dodging this.

Larings saw the shots coming, and raised his arm. Dozens of torpedos and MAC rounds froze in space. He then flicked his finger, and two MACs flew back and cut through the Hispanic ships they had launched from. The rounds continued, destroying several other ships.

The energy beams were too close. He purposely let a few hit him, and then quickly dodged the rest, Matrix style. His power was growing.

Once all the beams had gone past, Larings lashed out with an attack of his own. He took two Hispanic cruisers, and slammed them together, crushing them as flat as pancakes. He then drained the oxygen out of a Juggernaut, and the crew suffocated within seconds. He tried to enter the computers of the NR ships, but he was unable to do anything, because the AIs had been removed. Angry, he cast a beam of energy, which effortlessly cut through ten NR Warships. The ships then began launching fighters, which Larings quickly destroyed. No more fighters left the ships.

Another volley was fired by the Sirius forces, again, Larings escaped unscathed. Larings lashed out yet again, crushing another large number of Sirius ships. It was becoming more and more obvious that the Sirius fleet would not be able to stop Larings, and a retreat was being discussed. Larings was far more powerful than expected, and he either dodged, or added their shots at him to his ever-growing shield.

After the next volley, Larings identified a new target, one that had been providing a large amount of the fire that had been coming at him. It was an incredibly large Warship. Larings did not know, but that was the Empire, the flagship of the NR fleet, and ww2jacob's personal ship.

Larings sent a huge bolt of electricity at the ship, and it fried many of the ship's systems, and killed hundreds of crewmen.

************************************************************************************************

ww2jacob lay dying on the bridge of the Empire. The lightning had come so fast, there was no way to anticipate it. His bridge crew was all dead or dying, and he knew that he was not in much of a better condition.

He knew that he was responsible for many of the deaths in this war, too many had died at his hands. He had pushed too hard for total victory, and had ignored the costs to humanity. Now, with moments left, he had the insight to see what had happened. He knew what he had to do. He moved towards the pilot's console.

************************************************************************************************

Larings was wreaking pure destruction on the Sirius fleets. A smile had formed on his face. He was going to be the ruler of Sirius. Soon, the fleets would have had enough, and would flee. He doubted he would ever have to deal with them again. Victory would be his, very soon.

Larings was so wrapped up in these thoughts, and in the enjoyment of killing the enemy, that he didn't notice the Empire begin to move forward. The ship, or what reamined of it, picked up speed. It moved closer and closer to Larings. Still, Larings had no idea what was about to happen.

*************************************************************************************************

On the bridge of the Empire, ww2jacob smiled. His debt had been repaid. He prepared for the journey to meet his creator.

*************************************************************************************************

Larings turned around, a split second before the Empire hit him. A look of pure suprise and fear was the last thing ww2jacob saw. The last thing that Larings saw was the grinning and pale face of ww2jacob.

The Empire connected. The force of the impact caused Larings's shield to implode, and Larings went out with a huge explosion. The blast rocked the New Madrid system, and the survivors knew that they had victory. Not for the Axis, or the Allience, but for all of Sirius.

************************************************************************************************

Well, did you like that? An incredible ending for an incredible RPG.
We will wrap up, and then I will start the 2nd part, on a new thread, sometime tommorow.

Norwich Base in deep space on the borders of Liberty space:

In their isolation the Norwich and its crew remained unaware of the momentous events in New Madrid. Preparations for hyperjump are under way.

"All ships reporting systems green. Sapping charges set. Prepare for jump."

In a huge surge of energy the hyper-gate activates. Norwich Base along with its accomanying swarms of frieghters slowly enters the wormhole. Once all ships are through the wormhole closes and the charges begin to count down. But they never detonate. Meanwhile...

"All vessels reporting in sir. All present and accounted for."

"These readings can't be right."

"What seems to be the problem comm officer?"

"Sir our scanners report large volumes of EM and radio signal emmisions with an intensity pattern that lines up almost perfectly with some of the planets in this system."

"Are you saying that this system is inhabited? But thats impossible!"

"Sir! our scanners are picking up large numbers of inbound contacts. Should we hail them."

"Yes. They already know were here, so we might as well find out who they are."

Post Fri Oct 29, 2004 4:52 am

Norwich base, on the edge of the Sol system:

"Sir they are ignoring or hails. We are getting visual. Thats impossible!"

"No of course not. If we run into lifeforms in an empty system why shouldn't they write the same language as us."

"Sir they are powering up some kind of jump drive."

"Get us out of here. Now!"

"Yes sir."

As the Norwich and its supply convoys watch in amazement a fleet larger than all the houses of Sirrius combined, activates their jump engines and enters hyperspace. The Earth Alliance is on its way.

Nice ending, jacob. And great banner.

To Wilde:

I had to read your post a couple times to make sure I had gotten it right. But no matter how many times I checked, it still said the same thing: that it was better to let the rp stagnate.

I still can't really believe I read that. I'm not trying to kill the rp, Wilde. This first round was already dying - the Axis/Alliance war that had been the focus of it's saga was coming to an end, factions already had navies so large that there was no plausible way to invent a new threat that could challenge them. The first round was pretty much over.

There are two kinds of rps, Wilde. There are those that have staying power, those that can last months, even years; and there are those that lack that power, that will die out after maybe a couple of weeks. This is the first kind, an rp that could easily last for years if we help it.

Regardless, sometimes even the best rps need a boost, a way to bring them back to a point in time where you can DO something. Nobody wants to sit there and watch as some uber-navy, built up over the course of the entire game, decimates every single other faction.

Outcast himself said this first round was only a test, to see if the idea worked. Guess what - it did. Now we get a chance to put that idea into a new framework, ironing out the little details and glitches. Stop whining about me being a psychomaniac or whatever it was you called me, and try to understand that sometimes you have to start again.
