Ship icons

I've got some problems with creating new ship icons. First, I used the FL Model Cloner to try and create a new icon.

When that didn't work, I worked my way through implementing step 3 of Osprey's tutorial manually. That didn't work either.

My 3db is referred to correctly in the INI and the tga imported into the file is 64 x 64 pixels and looking fine.

Ideas?

Okay, I solved it. Osprey's tutorial said 24 bits would be okay for the tga. Well, obviosly not: I tried 16 bits and now it's working.

I have to suggest using 32. You can also use DDS, actually, although it hardly matters with Icons anyhow. Icons, like practically everything else in FL, are just pictures that are being projected onto two-tri squares. You can double the texture rez, etc., and it all still works.

This is also where I gave up on my ship mod with the see through hull, the icons kept crashing the game.
I had 6 colors to choose from and you picked which one when you installed the mod with a drop down menu.

I tried out the new 3db export plugin for milkshape to create an icon for a ship i just finished recently and it worked great using a 64x64 32 bit TGA texture.

I would suggest getting it and trying it out. Quite a handy little plugin.
