nomad textures

this is just a basic tutorial on using nomad textures on custom ship,im still in the process of making a tutorial on custom transparent nomad-like textures

to start off we need to get the the nomad texures. import the no_battleship
into milkshape from data/ships/nomad/no_battleship. when you import the nomad
model there will be an option to extract textures.
you have to do this in order to see and save the textures.

extract the texures into
a folder you can find easily. put any other textures you will be using in
that folder as well. close out the nomad battleship.

Nomad frame N-dtl1-64
Nomad surface N-dtl2-256
Nomad Interior n-dtl2-256G
these are the textures from the nomads just for reference.

open your ship model and texture it to your liking. once that is done you
will need of course the .cmp exporter for MS3d. export as a cmp as you
normally would. now you will also need the fl. mat exporter(also available
at TLR.)

dont close your model, you now need to export using the fl.mat
exporter. a box will come up asking if you want to create new .mat or
update something. select the update option. pull down the extention
drop down and select cmp.

find the cmp file that you just saved and select
it.it will then ask for one of the texture files(it's important
that all of your texture files are in the same file or the exporter may
have trouble finding them.

thats it for the modeling part, now to editing
files.

open data\ships\shiparch.ini
find the lines that contain your ship data. im using ge_fighter for
reference(starflier) delete the lines for
envmapbasic.mat
envmapbasic

if you are using glass you may need these, but i havent tested it
using those with it yet. otherwise they're just taking up space

on the line for the ship texture
(material_library = ships\civilian\cv_ships.mat)
delete only the civilian\cv_ships.mat part
and replace it with nomad\nomad_fx.txm

save the file and that should do the trick.
