problem with textures-SOLVED

I have a problem with texturing my models in milkshape.
All the textures i use are streched over the whole group.
This is no problem with the cockpit window and the exhaust texture. But when
the hull texture is streched over the whole ship it doesn´t look good.

Very simply... to get textures to "stick" correctly, you should UV-map your model. You *can* do this in MS3D, but its tools are very clunky. I'd suggest downloading UVMapper Classic (www.uvmapper.com), which is a freeware UV-mapping tool that's very easy to use. Simply give your objects some planar maps.

For tilemaps... the tools in MS3D are actually pretty good. The tiling tools are under Tools-->Tiling Texture Mapper. These will allow you to make planar or cubical tilemaps on your objects.

Just bear in mind... tilemaps look OK for certain things- "natural" areas, where you're generally going to go for something noisy, or mechanical areas where you want details, but have to cover a large surface area. Tilemaps generally look like crap if you cover an entire ship with them, though, and should be avoided when practical.

Problem solved. I used the Texture Coordinate Editor of ms3d.
