Yet another ship making problem..

Sorry to post on here, i`m pretty sure there is always somebody saying they need help importing a ship. I have read most of the ship creating link from imagine and gone through the ship creating tutorial a few times by Drizzit.
I`m creating the ships from frontier. I know that there are some low poly versions which are the same as the ones in the old game, but I wanted to create some updated ones. These are my first attempt at doing the whole ship making thing.
I have been a pretty busy ini editor modder for the last year, so i`m not completely new to this, but anyway.
The problem, created the ship using AutoCAD, exported as 3ds into milkshape. All looks fine, done all the textures (just basically for now as its the first one), done the hardpoints, exported the cmp and the mat.
But in the game the ship dosen`t show up. Its buyable, so there`s no errors on the ini side of things. The mounts are also screwed, they all appear in one lump in the middle and none of the textures show.
The model itself was created using a combination of solid and surface modelling. It is mentioned in Imagines thread that you can`t have holes in the model. Well, some of the surface geometry isn`t sealed. Instead, you can look from below and see the front and back of the shape. The actual model could be made from one piece, it dosen`t have a hole going through the middle of it.
I`ll keep trying, but if antbody has some ideas it would be appreciated..

M-A-C-E_166,

From you description of a mass of hard points "they all appear in one lump in the middle and none of the textures show"..... it could be a problem of scale.. if all your weapons etc are in a small bunch floating (or partly buried) then it usually means that the ship is too small.

Try this.. Import the pilot.. then scale your ship TO HIM in milkshape, delete the pilot.. and scale the model by a factor of 100 in milkshape.. scale should be close then.

Better yet... don't add your HPs in MS3D at all. Use HardCMP... it's much easier, and much less likely to have serious problems if you don't do everything right...

Cheers for your help guys. I wasn`t that far off getting it working. I can`t believe i was 1/100 the sixe i was needed.
I had imported the defender into milkshape, exported it as a dxf and brought it into autoCAD as an idea of scale. I`d like to have a go at using bryce 5 to create a short animated video for the start of the mod and i would be using those models.
Well, i`ve got the ship in the game, its a bit basic and i am going to have to change some Hp orientations and close up the mesh gap as it dosen`t render the back faces. But, its going pretty well for a first attempt.
I will release the ships when i`ve finished a few and am happy with them.
Y`know, Aargh, it would be really good if u could make a startup video of WOS using bryce. It does all the landscape and oceans very easily. Just an idea..
