Help!in an absolute biginner

I have Lightwave 7.0 i modeled a new ship, how do i get it in to Freelancer, how do i add hardpoints etc...
...and textures??...
Please Help

first, you will need to export your ship from lightwave to gmax. As I don't know Lightwave, I can't help you about finding an exporter for it. But be sure to find an answer here I suggest you reading this tutorial as it is a step-by-step tutorial from the moment you make your ship in GMax.

why on earth would you want to put it into gmax when he has lightwave? ...lol

Just get miklshape and import the lightwave .lwo and open it up into milkshape, from there you can export it to freelancer cmp. And also conduct all your hardpointing using milkshape. No point in puting it into gmax, then have to put it into milkshape, when he could just directly put it in m.s. lol.

But a word of caution, if you made it in lightwave... did you use uv maps? Or planar mapping.... Cause it will need uv maps for use in other programs.

@black_lighting : Srry, I never ever used LightWave of my life. Didn't know there was an importer for LightWave in MS3D. But then, I never had the time to mess with it, it's all bugged up Next time I'll just shut up...

actually i think there are two importers for lightwave in milkshape, and three lightwave exporters in milkshape... =p but regarding hardpoints... actually regarding making ships and putting them into freelancer... I still like the oldest and first (and only) tutorial I ever read

the borg sphere tutorial:
http://tfk.marlur.dnsalias.net/tutorial/

simple, easy, short, has everything you "need" to know to put a ship into freelancer from start to finish. (Including the hardpointing your asking bout)

edit:tho I should put a disclaimer out that there are much newer programs and exporters out there to make things faster then this tut has them done, such as the .mat exporter for miklshape which means you don't have to make your own .mat using utf, also there is the hardcmp editor program which will let you add/edit hardpoints to your cmp. But follow the borg sphere tut and you can't go wrong. Then you can go into the shortcuts people use.

You are my god thank you so much!

thx, but no thx, where do I get UTF editor and BINIQDU(from the tut. that you fave me), hu???
I also remember I had a tutorial from this website that included a list with all the bases and stations.
that tut. is preaty confusing what hardpoints are for the Torpedos, GUNS\ROCKETS, Shields, i found the engine but where is the thruster,

oooh now i remenber that the ship needs a colision box or sumthing like that, where do i get that?

thank you

for all the programs and exporters ya need, try the freelancer editing utilities forum section =p

top most thread

http://www.lancersreactor.com/t/forum/t ... ing&M=True

put it on your favorites list, everything you need is in that thread

for collision boxes, just rename a prexsisting freelancer ship .sur file to the name of your ship, and put it in the same folder as your ships cmp. Later on you can deal with making a resizing sur, but you shuold just deal with getting it done before dealing with that. From the sounds of it, you should first finish your model, uv maps, and texturing before thinking bout putting it in.

Glad you got it to work Sergiu. Can I recommend one thing however, Milkshape has free upgrades to later versions. 1.6.4 is well out of date, I recommend downloading 1.7.2 from the link here. Good luck with your modeling
