cmp. Question

Is there a way to edit the cmp-files .
I want to make a Nomad Hypergate out of the Nomad Jumpgate but Milkshape 3d isn`t working

Why would you have to change the CMP for that? You can make a new object with a new name etc., place it somewhere (don't forget to make the entry in universe.ini, too), and use the existing Nomad Jumpgate model. The name, fucntionality etc. is not part of the mesh, and hardpoints etc. can be added/removed/altered manually one existing cmps.

There are to programs for editing CMP files in the download section.
1) HardCMP-to add, delete, or modify hardpoints. (And it helps you find a suitable SUR file for new models.)
2) Model Tool-to resize the CMP, and it's assigned SUR file.

I want to change the cmp. file because I want to add a cage into the middle of the jumpgate where you fly in to jump.

The only way I know to do what you want is to model the cage... to do this you import the .cmp to ms3d then if MilkShape is not your go.. export from ms3d to max or lightwave (or whatever your preference is), model and texture the changes, then reverse the process...

Sorry, but I know of no other way, usless you can find a cage (or like) in Freelancer somewhere and re-position it in the centre of the gate... lots of work tho.....
