Textures...or Texture Repository?

Calling all modelers! Why not share the non-FL textures you've made/have? Some of us have zero skill in making them, (like me omg!) and you would benefit by getting your name out there...What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Personally, i'm always hunting for good, quality textures, or even tutorials on making my own (although those are rare so far for me...so post your thoughts, maybe we can get a little space from TLR for it if it pans out, who knows?

What a good idea, as I make most of my own textures I can possibly provide some tile textures...some are quite unusual and colourful as well...size would have to be considered as 512 x 512 tga's are quite large and dont compress a huge amount.. I can provide textures in dds format.. (standard lod values) I have also broken up and modified a lot of the standard freelancer textures.. Dont know if this will help... Or if space can be found...

Harrier - You the MAN I am already using one of your textures (will be providing credit, of course, in the upcoming Asgard v2.0 mod)...and i love it...It's called steel-4g.tga and it's a sweet texture...nice work

I'm going to hunt around for some space, will see what i can do, and to everyone else reading this thread, if you would like to donate some space to have a texture repository, post here, we'd LOVE that!

There is a program out there called texture maker and a site called www.fantasticarts.comboth are extremely valuable to any modeller and animator. But its not for Ms3d its for 3dsmax and Lightwave and I think some Maya. I use them all so I have no probs with the site

If you guys get some packages together and send them to me I can put them in the download section for ya.

Maybe if a bunch get sent we can put them in one or more packages for download.

I'm wondering why not dds format in 256x256 which is what there suppose to be or am I wrong. dds is much smaller in size and in what Freelancer uses, coarse I may be wrong about this if I am I'm sure someone will let me know...

Thanks for the most excellent offer, BP! the ONLY concern i have with the download section here is that it's so tremendous! But i guess as long as we keep the word "texture(s)" in the filename, they shouldn't be too hard to find...

I have a Gigabyte of textures but I am stuck on 28.8

BP,

Yes Freelancer uses DDS in a large part, however, Freellancer also uses an equal part in standard 24bit/32bit TGA format.

a texture repository would be a great asset for modder/modelers

Me for that too! I have zero skill at ship modding except for making the code. I have been struggling with a simple model for a couple of weeks now and if I could at least look forward to a texture (which I do not have the tools to make) that would at least be something.
