In a Single Player battle, every bot on the map comes straight for you. In a In a SP battle if you activate your cruise drive to let your shields recharge you instantly get 15 Cruise Disruptors fired at you endlessly. That's ridiculous. I really don't expect realism in computer games, but I do expect them to at least be interactive.
I do, but I just get 5 to 10 bad guys chasing me and ignoring the wingman bots. Not bad because at least your wingmen can hit the bad guys from the rear, but bad for you because no ship carries that many shield batterries, nanobots, mines, and countermeasures when the bad guys are two tech levels above you.
It's okay to let player's beat the mission. They don't have to "cheeze" it up so much.
IMHO, when the cheeze is this thick it removes the player from any gameplay strategies. The ability to apply strategy to create tactical solutions is much more involving than finger-twitching.
Anyway, that's my only real complaint about Freelancer. It's a fairly unique RPG.

Actually this reminds me of an experience from GTA3. In that game, I walk down a certain street and several gang members are shooting at me...then the SECOND I use my weapon, a nearby cop chases ME!
Well thankfully they changed that in Vice City...I think I punched someone, but when they fired their gun at me, a cop started chasing him.

I saw something pretty interesting, actually... I was Hostile with the Bounty Hunters, Friendly with the Corsairs, in Corsair space... and a group of Hunters flew at me... past me... and engaged the Corsairs. Most ignored me completely.
After people repeatedly pointing out the single-minded AI, that was pretty neat, I thought. Just thought I'd share.
"Hey...that's not my hand[!"

Yeah, when the SP campaign finishes the bad guys get a more rational behaviour.
I was on my way to Cambridge from Omega 3 and a group of Red Hessians in daggers flew right past me and ignored me.... lucky for them because my sabre and I werent in the mood for a fight either and I just wanted to reach Cambridge (still trying to find Juni ).

Well, I meant the Missions with Juni are too scripted. They are objective oriented, but you have no choice of how to pitch the battle. Mostly, Juni and your allies say, "go here, stay there", which usually gets you dead in a hurry since all the bots make a beeline for you and ignore anyone else near.
In the open play part of SP it seems to depend on how your rep is with enemies. I just flew from Honshu to Mactan and never got shot at. Neutrality has it's advantages!! Big ones with 275 cargo space.
