Bretonia and its "gothic" architecture - minor spo

Let me start by saying that I've been having a blast playing the game.

Now, I like the idea of the major houses sporting a unique look, because it makes things interesting. However, does anyone else think they went overboard with the interior design of Bretonian buildings? Now I know they're trying to achieve a "gothic" look, but come on - giant horned vampiric faces gracing the walls of ship equipment rooms? LOL. I'm curious to know how the Brits in this forum feel about that.

I think it's Liberty who has the Egyptian theme going on...

I didn't think it's overboard, it's a nice touch. I realize the cultures of the game aren't like completely cut off from each other, but it's nice to know when you land on a planet that you're definitely in Rheinland territory. Especially since there are no accents for the majority of the NPCs.

With traders coming and going from distant worlds, it would also serve as something of a tourist attraction, I suppose.

I wonder if there's a Disnery Land anywhere... or would it be Disney Galaxy?

As a Brit, i'd have to say i find it quite funny myself. =p Dosn't relate to us at all.....but still funny.

What I found odd was that none of these gargoyles was on the outside of a building, which is where they usually roost.

It is hard to miss the Freemason (illuminati), New World order theme going on.

Right down to the sacred numbrr of 29 (# of nano in Anubis ship)... the "Order"... that takes good care of its memebers... and has secret knowledge. Did you notice the leader kneel before the Altar just before your last mission?....

I went and read it, and couldn't help but notice that the number of pages was..

69!

Which all of our readers will remember has a special significance in ancient egyptian religion. Can it be a coincidence that in the capital of Elbonia the sun was exactly 420 degrees (360+60) above the horizon at the exact moment that page was posted? Someone was obciously trying to tell us the authors were smoking something.

An interesting read for sure, but number games don't quite shock me as much as it seems the authors think they will.

Slightly more seriously, I didn't notice any mention of the number 29 in all the links I followed on that page. Reference? While the egyptian link is interesting (the battleship Osiris returning to save people: hmm), kneeling before an altar is hardly diagnostic of or unique to freemasonry.

everyone knows that any decent british person has at least one giant gargoyle statue inside their house! This is common knowledge

2 + 9 = 11

As a Briton myself, I don't mind the gargoyles. Artistic fads come and go - maybe this is one of them.

What does look rather weird to me is the Bretonia police uniform. If Freelancer was an offshoot of an alternate steampunk universe, where the British Empire was still around in the 30th century, then okay, but if we are to assume that the game is set in our universe where the British Empire expired in the mid-20th century, to have the Bretonia police dressed up like refugees from Isandhlwana is stretching the bounds of reason a bit.

its again a britonia empire

it´s no way better in rheinland space, and I really can´t believe that they did a better job for japan or usa ... hehe but I guess the worst got the spain, pirates and drugdealers-theme (har har)

I used to work for the evil empire of the Mouse.

If they had any say in it....There WOULD be a Disney Theme Park in at least one or more of the systems....

Bringing new meaning to Walt Disney World.....they would probably have claimed an entire world....

The Disney Sector, with Planet Walt. Station: Mickey. Faction EME (Evil Mouse Empire)

Actually, in a secret location you can figure out why half the occupants of the Hispania sleeper ship became Outcasts. The home base is planet Malta and it is pirate, though...

I've heard there were supposed to be 9 ships but only 5 made it, the ones in the intro. I wonder if there's secrets or easter eggs to be unlocked...

Its only a game: No big deal really. It could have been worse and had Sadam Husian face on the walls.
