How to discover jump holes without losing hair

Hi everybody,
If you play Freelancer like I do, you want to find the quickest route from point A to point B. This is a method you can employ to find the hidden bases and jump holes quickly and easily.
When you first enter a new system, turn on the Nav map, then switch to "patrol" mode. Start entering trade routes, and check the Nav map often. Switch between friendly, neutral and hostile mode. You may notice patterns.
For example, if you notice that several patrol paths originate from the same empty point in space, youve found either a) jump hole or b) hidden base. Make your Nav map give you the quickest route, and check it out.

Here is an example. All I could see were these concentrated paths before I visited the epicenter - wala - rochester base.

I hope this saves some of you people time and headache.

hey, as great the idea is.... you'll find some systems its still quite hard to find, and some patrol routes will lead you close to dangerous places

You just washed up here or something?

Yeah, I've been lead to a couple Hacker bases out in the middle of nowhere. It's still better than just flying around randomly.

Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. It's a big bad universe out there and if you wanted a comfortable life you shouldn't have become a freelancer now, should ya :-)

Or you could have stayed in Liberty space where it's (relatively) safe.

I just tried to enter a system full of angry Outcasts in Sabres and me just sitting in a Hammerhead with level 8 and level 7 guns and a level 7 shield. Outch. That was no fun.

Worm holes are a sore point with me. When I was in Bretonia somewhere, I got the usual message from Juni after I gained a level - go to Cambridge I think it was. I was "up north somewhere" where I'd discovered a wormhole to Cambridge - lucky me I thought - naively!!!

Flew over to afore-mentioned worm hole, tried to dock with it, and ended up halfway back to sheffield??? (wasn't paying much attention when docking) Hmmm... tired it again and it wouldn't dock - "access denied" or some such, denied by what? I thought - the worm god !!! ok thinks I, maybe I don't "dock" with a wormhole, so I tried flying into it...... nope, didn't work either.

Eventually gave up after about 15 minutes and took the long way round through 3 systems and about a dozen lanes. Found out why I couldn't use it later when it showed up in the main story as a plot convenience - OPEN UNIVERSE MY A...!!! $£#*& $%@*& makes me mad it does !!!!!!

early on in the game the wormholes are closed. It does that to keep you from flying into very hostile areas before you are ready.
