GREAT IDEA I HAD!!!
Im not posting this in the What would you improve in freelancer thread because its so big now probably alot of people arent even going to the end of it.
CAPITOL SHIPS IDEA --- okay, to get a capitol ship you go to one of the four factions (kusari, liberty, rheinland, and bretonia). go to their capitol planet (new london, new berlin, new manhattan, new tokyo) and in the bar there should be a man or woman representative of the faction that has their own special little marker that appears when you put your mouse over them, indicating that they have a capitol ship mission for you. When you talk to them they offer that they have an old battleship or cruiser or frigate or whatever that they have had lying around waiting to be scrapped for spare parts, and they tell you that if you do some difficult missions for them they will give it to you. Then they give you a series of 5 or 10 actual missions (not the crap they offer in the jobs list) and once your done they reluctantly hand it over. Its old obviously (they wouldnt give you a brand spanking new ship now would they?) so you have to have it repaired and restocked for a large sum of money, maybe 100,000 credits or so. To do this you have to go to a specific base maybe 1 or 2 systems away from where you got the ship. So your escorting your own capitol ship to a base (its trashed but some of its turrets are still operative.) on the way you get jumped by a large group of pirates trying to steal your ship and you have to fight em off. when you get to you destination afterwards you pay the cash to have your capitol ship repaired and its all nice and clean and ready to go... or is it? NO! because you have to hire people to maintain it and work in the bar and all that crap. (you dont have to hire people to live there, they come and dock as they please just like at any other station, except yours can be mobile.) You should also be able to hire permanent escorts for your ship, maybe having a choice between 2 ace pilots or 5 novice pilots.

You can go on single missions that give you more than that.
