well i honestly don't get the big deal with multiple ship ownership (sorry to crash the party ). I spose having a hanger here and there might be nice. Yeah i could warm up to the idea. Personally i think they should work harder on the rpg'ing style (best missions and traderoutes discovered from the bar conversation). Conversations needed tightening and lines need re-acting. And bars need to be about 5 times "louder". Drunken peeps sprawling all over each other.

But with armour and shield potions and other things like that i think they make good additions to the game (like d2 potions). Extra mods for the ship is always a bonus.

The other thing would be some of the "cheap success" avenues need removing. Increasing storage in freighters is a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad idea imo. I'd say decrease it all (and fighters right down to 10 or so)

that's 2 of my 10 cents.

Well aloty of things I want have been said here and I only skimmed it so mabye this was said too but, when talking to NPC's give the player control of what Trent says, like give him a few options (like in Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights). Here be an example:

Agent Lucredzia Noin

I work for the Liberty Secuirity Force, I do have a mission for you...

1."Is it a tough one?"
2."Lets here the details."
3."LSF eh? I dont want to deal with you!"
4."I must go now, bye."

You get the picture.

Hmmm... seems like I'm starting to look forward to FL2 even before Freelancer has been released where I live. As for FL2, I think it would be great if you could _start_ as a freelancer, and then build up until you are some kind of mogul, owning battleship fleets and planets. As if the game started as FPS and evolved into RTS.

There's certainly a lot of changes to be made for FL, though. The ability to remove those silly-looking dust particles, for instance. My ship has a speedometer, and that's good enough for me.
And wouldn't it be very easy to make a new menu option: 'Start new free game', where you don't have to care about SP campaign, levels, or anything, just do _whatever_ you want? Or maybe that's possible already, I don't know, only played the demo yet...
And surely it's boring being the only freelancer in space...

What would have been great is for the turrents, esepically frieghter ships which are basically all turrents, is to have them auto aim and shoot or for you to be able to mount the turrents and the ship to fly itself alá X-Wing Alliance when you finally get control of the Millenium Falcon. That game was great execpt for the first 5 or 6 missions where it was a bit cack, bloody hard game too.

Wow, all of these ideas are fantastic! I can't imagine most of them are too hard for the developers to actually implement... if they DID actually do it this game would stay on my hard drive for a very, very long time (years). It should be simple to allow more random mission types to be given, and wingmen too (as they are already in the game on SP missions), and I really love the "fleet of player owned frieghters" idea!

In voicing my opinion, I also would like to see us get to pilot larger frieghters and possible other types of ships, it does seem a bit strange that a fighter can haul around 70 some units of cargo and a frieghter can haul 250 or so. Yes, it would be very easy to make TONS of cash with it (if you survive the trip)... so why not alter the economy a tad so it isn't so bloody simple to make hundreds of thousands in one trip? Just my thought anyway!

I was a huge fan of Privateer 1, and I miss the ability to talk to the NPC pilots and bases... being able to hail them and say "Drop your cargo!" or "Do you need a hand?" or "Help me!" would be interesting... and taunts of course! I guess for me that would add a lot of depth and interest to it. More interactivity. And NPCs would thank you for helping them out, maybe even give you a reward. Just my 2 cents anyway! Great ideas, all of them! I hope someone in our awesome community can MOD them if nothing else... it would make the game entirely worth it!

runescape style of pking would make this game damn near addicting as quake was.. be so simple to put in too- 3 minutes you get a skull and crossbones over your ship for attacking another player.. during that time you are vulnerable to drop your guns/cargo/unmounted items.. I mean it's already fun tracking down a guy and cutting him off by disabling a lane you predict he'll use- no gain for pking is just wrong man.. and everyones cargo/unmounted items should be dropped as loot, attacker or not

This what i would like to see changed:

1. We should get group missions in MP.
2. From some mission level you should not be able to manage alone but only with a group!
3. When you die you should lose your equipement so you better think twice before taking on a higher mission (makes the adraline flow too because there is something at stake).
4. For MP it should be possible to start your own squad.
5. Nomad alliens should be made stronger fighters!
6. Nomad weapons should decay and it should not be possible to repair them so when their status turns red they should stop working and you have to dump them!
7. I would like more levels. 38 is not enough let go to 200!
8. Levels should not be money related but rather per kills or experience!(better EXP based) When you do a mission you should get experience points and higher ranking ships should only be available at a certain ammounts of EXP Levels same goes for weapons and equipment.
9. I would like to see a dynamic Market instead of a Static one.
10. Last and not least ... prices of higher ranking equipment, weapons and ships should be much and much higher!

These points are all based on MP

Ps. I do not have the time and patience to read through whole the thread!

What happened to the other thread ?

- Player shouldn't use freighters but rent them with a pilot and escort it through the routes. In addition, hiring pilots to escort your freighter would be good. As missions, it's not necessary to hire pilots since most missions are already asisted by the faction which gives the mission.

- Missiles would be more dangerous and hardpoints should be reconsidered. Missile and Torpedo hardpoint should be the same so you have to select if you are a bomber or a fighter for missions.

- Planets must be bigger. Docking Rings must be bigger to allow multiple ships to dock.

i would really like the option to upgrade the ship we have, instead of having to buy a set ship to compete with the bad boys... what do i mean? ok...

i got really upset when i realised that to have a chance of fighting anyone above level 26 or so that i really had to ditch my lovely looking crusader for an eagle... lets face it, the eagle is the king of Dogfighting...

I would just love to have the option of spending thousands of credits upgrading the hardpoints, armour level, shield slot, energy core etc... of my bretonian Crusader until it was at least on a par with the non-house ships... not harder, just level it out to give me a fighting chance against the bad boys.

Why? well i think we're all getting bored of the race to omicron whatsit to get the eagle and the del cids and the nomads and the... you get the pucture.

Wouldn't it be nice to see a load of pilots flying something other than an eagle duelling or escorting etc?

Basically i want my crusader back... but i want to fight with the big boys too...

the thing i would vastly improve in freelancer is the ability to retain your status in the mutiplayer. not being able to jump from server to server without having to create a new character is time consuming, and redundant as hell.
