Moderators: Closed threads????

Hey moderators, what's the deal with all the best threads getting closed???

Anyone would think that discussion was illegal on these forums. Forums are intended to be for discussion. Didn't your alien leaders tell you that when they sent you here?

Leave popular threads open, PLEASE.

Heck, every single time I've wanted to add to a thread today it's been closed. There's really no point in my continued membership if I can't weigh in with my opinion. If I wanted to just listen to others speak I could watch the TV.

I tried to tell Chris this.

Being a message board admin for the good part of six years, I can say from experience that this isn't the way to run a message forum. Fergodsake, you'd think that when someone saw that they're pissing people off to the point that they're going to GameFAQs to warn people about this board, they'd come to their senses and realize they're doing something wrong.

In a year, when Freelancer is old news, no one will remember this site anymore. And not because the game's unpopular, but because of the way this message board is run. That's the wonderful thing about running message boards like these: If you do them right, you can have visitors to your site for years and years and years even when the original subject of your website has been worn out. If you screw them up and run them as if they're under martial law, you'll piss off your visitors and they'll never come back.

Do it via email. Berating the Mods in public is unappropriate.

I did. He ignored me. Maybe he'll heed my warning now.

Heh, there was this one message board in the past that was moderated not much unlike this one. By the time I was through with it, nothing was left of it but a smoldering little pile of rubble where hundreds of people used to post. The great thing about people like Chris is that they'll eventually cause their own downfall. That other guy who owned that message board went so far as to instill self-proclaimed "martial law" to the board after his moderators started (*snickers*) revolting against him.

I figure it shouldn't be too hard to topple over this board in much the same way. ^_^

Ohhh my god, you cannot BELIEVE how huge an a$$hole that comment made you sound. In fact the entire post pretty well much made you sound like one, but that one comment....wow! Im seriously going to enter you into some kind of competition. I reckon you'll piss it in.

Well, maybe I shouldn't say this, but I'm also active in another space sim forum. The game hasn't been released yet, but there are *extremely* many people almost escaping from this forum to that one. They're basically freelancer refugees, and while I haven't noticed a lot of abuse of power on this forum, MANY claim to have. I won't say which forum this is, but I'm sure many can guess it.
Take care.

"I reckon you'll piss it in." - ROFL! gg Mustang.

Nogana, well you've convinced me! I'm packing my bags and leaving tonight. Hahaha...

"Topple over the board"? Jesus man, get a hobby.

Just for the record: I did not ignore Nogana... I actually tried to extend a friendly hand and got slapped in the face. So I will not pay for his ranting and trying to - as proclaimed here - to destroy this web-site.

I agree that we are not allways correct, and we do make mistakes - we are only human beings, but on the other hand I've allways kept threads open even if they are critical of Freelancer as long as they stay constructive. They don't even have to be objective - just constructive. And saying "Freelancer sucks" because it does not have XYZ that another game has is not an constuctive argument.

*Sigh* Here's a tread that MUST to be locked. Now that one has spoken, every jackal of those 10 of hundreds users will come and say how "it's bad to lock treads".
Personally I agree sometimes the mods get Trigger Happy , but we have no flame nor spam! Also, go see if I care: I have better things to do than sit all day by the computer complaining about the mods on the forum...
Really, if you don't like, LEAVE! Would be better for all.

Maybe they want to discuss joystick support.

I don't miss that.
